Has anyone in the past month heard back from Encore? Referencing their FO ad posted back in Sep 2025.
Trying to figure out if December is a quiet month for hearing back or if it's just me . Also if you were rejected how soon after you apply does this company typically let you know?

WestJet just announced they’re canceling all hiring/upgrades/flow for 2026.
Does that follow through for Encore as well or just mainline though?
I think it’s company wide. More and more cost-cutting from the Onex overlords. Likely once AC start hiring OTS again Encore will be decimated and they’ll have to begrudgingly start hiring to replace people leaving.

I'm pretty sure that Encore will hire in 2026. Mainline seems to be out of the question, but that's because Mainline is massively overstaffed from the Sunwing integration.
Encore has run a groundschool every month this year except September and July. Meanwhile, mainline hasn't run a new-hire groundschool since November 2024. The trend for both will likely continue into 2026.
How long from applying to go through the process was it for you?
Initial application to in the pool was 3 months. About 10 I think days to hear back initially
Did they give you any idea of how long you'd be in the pool before a class date?
As for the process it's two interviews and reference checks right? Much else to the process?
Thanks.
They said I could be in the pool for up to 6 months but didn’t anticipate seeing waits anywhere near that long, I’m assuming wait times would vary based on experience. It was a virtual interview recording yourself answering some questions and then a normal interview, all pretty straightforward really. Mostly personality/tell me about a time questions in the regular interview, no technical stuff and one scenario.

Anyone else showing “in progress” at the moment and/or know what it means?
Curious, has the status changed from initial application?
In progress likely means being reviewed, could also mean they are preparing to offer you an interview but it is all relative to what the status was before this.
If you have already done the first intervie, then in progress obviously means something else.

When I first applied months ago, the initial status showed "Application received" and remained that way until recently. At which point it now shows in progress

It also says "we will be in contact regarding next steps" after it changed to in progress from application received.

Mine went from “application received” to “under review” within a couple days of submitting. Not sure if “in progress” comes before or after that…
I have tons of time so not stressing yet, though this is the first job I’ve applied for in over 25yrs, so I have no idea what to expect!
What does it say in the next box after under review? That might give an idea where it stands in the timeline.

“You will be contacted if you are selected for the next step of the process.”
I only submitted the application 2 days ago, so I’m sure it’s very early in the process.

Ah. Yes, it looks like then the next stage is in progress, "we will be in touch with the next steps" which logically means the application has at least made it to their first decision point.
Curious…. Are people still applying here thinking they will get a west jet spot eventually? Or are people using this place as a get your heavy turboprop hours and go?

I don’t think anyone applying is planning on flowing to mainline anytime soon
10 years ago WEN was the place to be. 787 orders, lots of growth, lots of expected movement. It certainly rivaled JAZ as a career option.
How things have changed. Everyone I knew who went to WEN is now at AC. Not the career path they expected.
I suppose my point is don't plan to far in advance. In 2 years, and certainly in 5 years, things will be very different. It's aviation, we have no way of knowing what will happen. Don't commit yourself to "I'm gonna work for WEN for a bit, then go to AC". Take the best opportunity available when it's right. It's likely not what you planned 5 years ago.
Personally, I’m just trying to build some heavy prop time. The industry is very different than it was a year ago, and even more so compared to two years ago. I feel somewhat stagnated in my current role logging MPIC-piston, and Encore would be a stepping stone to get me to the best opportunity available at whatever time that may be. Be it the flow to mainline or another operator.
