Porter E2 FO Interview Process
Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum!
I’m currently preparing for the Porter E2 First Officer interview and I was hoping to get some insight from anyone who has gone through the process.
Does anyone know what types of questions are typically asked? Also, is the interview process just a single video call, or are there additional stages afterward?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Interviews across all airlines are famously similar.Pilotbl wrote: ↑Thu Dec 25, 2025 12:23 am Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum!

Usually it starts off with “tell us about yourself” and “why choose us?” Might include : “what do you know about porter?”
They consist of generic questions initially.
I.e, are you legally able to Canada? Have you ever failed a check ride? Etc.
Followed by the typical interview questions:
There’s a whole bank of info online regarding these but they are behavioral questions:
“Tell us a time you had an argument with a coworker and what was the result”
“Tell us a time where you violated SOPs knowingly”
“Tell us a time………..”
Research the STAR method to answer these questions and coming up in your mind with memorable experiences in your flying career (good or bad) will help you honestly answer these questions.
Don’t lie, it’s easy to spot a lie
It’s generally a video call interview and could include additional steps such as sim evaluations depending on experience.
Good luck!!!

Thanks for the information, much appreciated.
Re: Porter E2 FO Interview Process
Its pretty straightforward aviation interview.
They start off with 10 yes or no questions like “have you ever failed a training event”, then get into the classic “tell me about a time” or “tell me about your current stable approach criteria at work”.
Tho i hope their HR is better/faster for you lo. I interviewed back in late October, though it went well, was assured they would get back to me yes or no, and i still have to gotten a yes, no or any signs of life lol. App still says under review on the portal too lol.

The interview question will range from technical (those that reflect Porter’s Operation, RVOP, LVOP, SCDA, RNP) to those that are more “tell me a time when” or behavioral in nature. Here’s a list that they may choose from:
Why Porter? Why not the competition?
What are you going to "bring to the table"? (Skills, Competencies, etc ...)
What do you do if a passenger is being uncooperative with a the FA in flight; on the ground? What if it was before departure (door open)?
What would you do if you are flying with a pilot who didn't follow the SOP? Safety and non-safety related.
What is SMS? Define and/or explain.
Describe a conflict you've had with a supervisor.
What business challenges does Porter face (past, present, future)
Fails of a check ride? Accident(s)? Incident(s)? Actionable CADOR(s)?
Why are leaving your last job? What didn't you like there?
Why are you unique / what do you bring?
Explain the history of your flying career / Outline some highlights and lowlights
Describe your leadership roles
What was your hardest decision ever? (flying or non-flying?)
Where do you see yourself three years from now?
Do you have/previously held/could get a red pass?
Who do you know who works here?
Are you within a one hour drive of the airport?
What could you do to assist passengers during a delay?
The SIM eval is pretty much a PPC ride with the normal requirements associated with it. They will provide you with some of Porter’s SOP, and see if you can learn them and apply them to the “ride”. They are looking for those that have the capacity to learn, can adapt to the situation, and fly the airplane competently and safely. Your sim partner is normally another candidate.

Re: Porter E2 FO Interview Process
Pretty sure we don't do sim evals on the jet.

We should...but we don't. Probably would make some hiring decisions real easy.
