Wasaya is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Base Engineer to join our team. As a Base Engineer, you will play a vital role in managing and leading a team of dedicated professionals in providing exceptional service. This position offers standby travel with many major airlines as an option with your days off, after completion of the mandatory probation period.
Wasaya Airways offers paid travel to and from the base location.
Job Summary
The Base Engineer reports to the Production Manager, ensuring that all maintenance activities are accomplished in accordance with the policies, procedures and instructions contained in the MCM, MPM, MOP and Transport Canada Requirements.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure that Task Cards are coordinated and completed regarding the overall maintenance functions within his or her control.
Ensure that any and all applicable Airworthiness Directives and inspections are accomplished within the required time period.
Ensure that all work on the aircraft is scheduled and completed in a timely manner.
Ensure that the Company is aware of staff attendance and performance on a weekly basis.
Build daily workload in Maintenance planner, utilizing staff compliment at base.
Ensure that all parts ordered for the base are received in a timely manner.
Ensure that all personnel are properly utilized and any necessary ‘on the job training’ is being accomplished in order to uphold a high standard of maintenance for the aircraft.
Provide and monitor training to individuals as directed by the PRM or Production Manager.
Any other related duties as assigned
Pay Rate depending on experience and qualifications - $56.36 - $68.31
Minimum Skills and Qualifications
Must possess a valid AME license for a minimum of 5 years.
Experience working on any of the following airframes: B1900D, Dash 8, ATR-42/72, PC 12/45 is an asset.
Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Able to work well under pressure.
The ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway is an asset.
Previous airline experience is an asset.
Experience with and/or knowledge of First Nations Organizations is an asset.
Working Conditions
Overtime as required.
Weekend work may be required.
Travel to off-site locations may be required.
Hazards associated with trade.
May be exposed to loud noise, dust, fumes, and oils.
May be required to work in confined spaces.
Indoor and outdoor work is required.
Safety equipment will be required and provided (PPE)*
*Please note, respirator fit testing may be required for this position as part of our commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. Candidates must be willing to undergo fit testing upon request.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift or move up to 75bs.
Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
