Not sure why people are still asking "anyone get a ground school date" when they have this information posted here.
No ground school for external hires for January or February. I don't expect to hear anything further for at least two more weeks.

You mean the negotiations where the company lied to the union in the first session saying that there was nothing of value that would affect bargaining and then ended the session early because they wanted to get off early. Next they were kind enough to drop the bombshell of "we're closing two bases" immediately prior to the second session. How about then cancelling the next session "because it's snowing," and the one afterward "because one of our lawyers died." You know, there hasn't been a session since then (January 26) because the company cancelled ALL sessions in February and "possibly March."
E2, and yeah I didn't want to air the challenges the team has been managing. Any DH on the D8, I'm the first one to roll up my sleeves to lend a hand on a turn.flieslikeachicken wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 10:17 pmYou mean the negotiations where the company lied to the union in the first session saying that there was nothing of value that would affect bargaining and then ended the session early because they wanted to get off early. I'm not sure if you are D8 or E2, but the Dash ***** (no need) got a bulletin where they were bragging about "The Benefit" of the US Pre-Clearance at the island and how one of them is that "Crew stays onboard to complete grooming and maintain Porter standards (no third-party groomers)." Yay, more unpaid work.
Management needs to get their act together and work with their flight crew instead of treating them like the garbage they make them gather.

Lend no hand for grooming. We are pilots, not groomers.
There was a time not so long ago (before the jets arrived), that management had sent a memo that "anyone on staff" that was: commuting, deadheading, or using staff travel to any extent was required to stay behind and help groom. It was sold as: "We are one unified, capable, caring team gladly assisting one another". That quickly went away when a several Captains called out Senior Management as they tried to deplane without "rolling up their sleeves".Lend no hand for grooming. We are pilots, not groomers.
It was also because we took massive delays trying to groom a 132 seat aircraft. I think the going thought was finish the setup, once that's complete, assist. Setup starting taking longer and longer. Then cabin crew got pretty hot and bothered. Is it written somewhere that on the Dash side, the flight crew are expected to groom the aircraft? For that matter the cabin crew?Grey_Wolf wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2026 5:22 pmOnce the E2 arrived, it was expected that the crew grooms. The Flight Crews said "hard pass, it's below our level"; and doesn't do it. Cleaners/groomers were hired to do the work. Furthermore, E2 Flight Crew can't assist with cabin security sweeps (internal memo) as they "haven't been trained" to do it.Lend no hand for grooming. We are pilots, not groomers.
Company put it in the DH8 SOP therefore, not grooming would be a violation. Unlike at WJ and the E2 there was nothing written. In fact when the E2 came to Porter and they tried to make us groom, the former Chief Pilot sent a memo saying we had to do it as per the FAM section ____. I'm sorry since when does a pilot follow the flight attendant manual, let alone even read that manual.cjp wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2026 7:46 pm

Needless to say, no one followed it and soon after launch grooming was done third party.
Just stop fucking grooming. You have pilot duties to complete whether it's prep for the next flight to prevent delays, or securing the aircraft after flight. The Benefit: Streamlined Destinations
While the YTZ departure process is more rigorous, arrival at US destinations will be significantly
faster:
- Faster Turns: No need to exit the aircraft to clear customs at the destination.
- Onboard Grooming: Crew stays onboard to complete grooming and maintain Porter
standards (no third-party groomers).

That’s cute in principle.flieslikeachicken wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2026 7:07 amIt's in the FOM.flyinhigh wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2026 6:46 amCompany put it in the DH8 SOP therefore, not grooming would be a violation. Only internal transfers from Dash to E2 for the foreseeable future. No word on Dash hiring. Interviews seem to be happening, I guess keep adding to the pool.goingnowherefast wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2026 3:24 am It would be completely ineffective if one, or even five people stopped grooming. So, how would one organize a fleet wide ceasing of grooming? Maybe wait for a union to pull their weight and have it part of the contract?
Anyway, its been March for over a week. When are the next groundschools for new hires? Is Porter even hiring anymore?
