Interesting read. I have a suspicion this is a by product of the massive investment they are bringing to canada. But regardless, it’ll for sure make some people decide whether they want pretzels from crabby FAs or pay the fee for a superb lie flat and a shower.

I used to travel a lot on Emirates - mostly in Economy but sometimes in Business.

Emirates is the classic "Overpromise and underdeliver" imho.

The economy product is nothing special. Their 'ICE' entertainment system is one of the best systems I've used.

Business is pretty good. The lounge in the A380 is nice. Jmho.

The A380 has a lot of passenger appeal. Very quiet in the cabin.

The cabin crew can be very hit and miss - I've had a few outstanding crews - but normally the crew is mediocre.

I've had a few times where they missed the meals in our entire section!

The real competition is their hub in Dubai - which is set up for easy transfers to almost anywhere.

Yeah, I think more competition from Middle Eastern airlines could actually be a good thing for passengers. I’ve flown with Emirates a couple of times, mostly in economy, and my experience was a bit mixed but generally decent. The entertainment system and the quiet cabin on the A380 really stood out to me, though the service that day depended a lot on the crew.

What I do agree with is that their hub in Dubai makes connecting to many destinations pretty convenient. If they keep expanding and adding more routes to Canada, it might push other airlines to step up their game, which is always good for travelers like us.
