Can't begin to imagine how the young pilot would bear this trauma for the rest of his life.

TSB initial info only came out today. Would have been nice if we were provided the weather.....

C-FDPW, a float-equipped De Havilland DHC-2 MK.1 operated by MHA Enterprises Ltd., was
conducting a VFR flight from St. Theresa Point, MB float base to Makepeace Lake, MB, with a pilot
and 4 passengers on board. When the aircraft was approximately 0.5 NM from Makepeace Lake,
the aircraft collided with terrain. The aircraft ELT did activate. The pilot was able to contact
emergency services using his mobile phone. Island Lake RCMP and Search and Rescue
Technicians deployed to the site. The pilot sustained serious injuries, and 4 passengers were
fatally injured. There was a post-crash fire. TSB deployed to the site.

A picture i saw somewhere showed blue skies. I've flown in that area not a far flight so cant imagine the weather was that different. No idea what the wind was doing.

One would have to be awfully low or slow to not correct that right? Or I’d like to think…
