Hiya,
1000 hour landlubber pilot here looking for my first float flying job and am wondering who's still hiring for the season? I'm BC based but looking anywhere in Canada. I've got my float rating, egress training and decent experience overall. Lots of PIC Navajo time, taildragger time including operating off dirt strips and on skis and lots of mountain flying. Would any of that redeem just having a basic 7 hour float rating? Looking more for a flightline position rather than a full time dock/ground role with some stick time on the side. Not that I shy away from any of the huffing and puffing integral to float/bush flying : ) Otherwise may just kick it down the road until I've managed to get my float hours up.
Cheers

You have decent time for a starting point. Check out Wings Over Kississing. They have bases in Flin Flon, Thompson, and Stony Rapids. And other bases over Northern Manitoba & Saskatchewan. It’s a very well run 703 operation, with lots of float aircraft. Probably just as many on the “landlubber “ side of the operation. Don’t be afraid of the dock hand work. After 40 plus years, I still get to work on the dock, it doesn’t bother me a bit. It’s just what you do, and part of the job.
Good luck in your search.

Thanks for the input! I'm familiar with Wings Over Kississing and like their operation. I've only seen them post for Otter float drivers though, which is a few rungs above my current station. I'll reach out nonetheless.BushRatt wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2026 8:38 pm You have decent time for a starting point. Check out Wings Over Kississing. Oh I've no issues at all with the dock work or any other of the heavy lifting that's always going to be part of this type of operation. Just not looking for a full time ground position, is all I meant.
