I've been hearing at Big Red known "influencers" getting a phone call from senior managers.

It pretty much tells you what calibre of person and pilot you are dealing with. It’s distressing and embarrassing. It’s really difficult to operate in this sort of environment.

I’m certain Bob falls asleep every night with visions of Justin and Carney running through his head…philaviate wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 6:25 amIt's because Bob has been programmed to agree with every social contagion that is the darling of the left regardless of the evidence on front of their eyes.khedrei wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 1:20 amJust because it isnt against the rules doesnt mean its not trashy or gives a bad image to other pilots.‘Bob’ wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2026 4:43 pm If someone has met the standards and is following company social media guidelines and has consent of the other crew, I don’t see what the big deal is.
Watching morbidly obese functioning alcoholic boomer captains nearly have a coronary talking about their ex wives and Carney are stealing all their money is less professional and more harmful.
If the travelling public knew what pilots of all kinds were like in real life they’d probably never get on an airplane again. At least an influencer has to be accountable to an audience.
Leave it to Bob to justify the nonsense. You still haven't answered my question. Twice now.
Remember diversity is our strength. The Western world built nothing of value. Importing millions is good for us. People shitting in the street is an improvement to our culture. Feelings matter more than truth. Etc etc.
Unfortunately Bob is about a third of Canada.
Maybe they will wake up when everything they value has been lost to tidal wave of failure their loving policies bring.

True, that does not paint a very nice picture... I was also unaware she had a whole ground crew and an extra plane flying with her. Turns the challenge even more from adventure to 'just need to find a way to pay for it'.Daniel Cooper wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2026 7:02 pm "She admitted she had "lost my rag several times dealing with people on the ground""

Must have fallen for the influencer story after all!

"Lost my rag" is a British and Australian informal phrase meaning you suddenly became very angry or lost your temper. It describes losing control of your temper, often unexpectedly, akin to "flying off the handle" or "blowing a fuse". - Cambridge Dictionary

For every influencer from the demographic you two clowns are alluding to, there are 10 from the obvious demographic you are conveniently ignoring.

Re: "Influencer Pilots"
Is that true? The vast majority of pilot influencers I see online are women. Though that could be because the algorithm feeds me that.
Re: "Influencer Pilots"
I see mostly males. All the accident investigator ones are males. Going from memory, I have only seen one or two others popping up on my feed such as Matt Guthmiller, that weird 747 guy, and some Dutch girl on a jet. The ones I linked to earlier in the thread all came to my attention through crashes.Daniel Cooper wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2026 7:36 pm Is that true? Maybe algorithms based on clicks and searches do have something to do with it. The Matt stuff went away after I stopped clicking on them. He seems to get plenty of criticism, including from Juan Brown for safety issues. I think the best accident analyzer is Mentour Pilot, although I have seen him miss a significant issue. Maybe I should start a YouTube thing and take over from them all.

I think the lesson here is no one is perfect, not even the guys doing the 20/20 analysis.pelmet wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2026 4:53 amI see mostly males. All the accident investigator ones are males. Re: "Influencer Pilots"
Oh, I had a different definition of influencer in my head.
Re: "Influencer Pilots"
Yeah, the accident investigators, while at times quite cringey, at least attempt to add some value. A bit more than 'hey look at me flying, I am so cool, now buy this product i love'Daniel Cooper wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2026 2:58 pm Oh, I had a different definition of influencer in my head.

Re: "Influencer Pilots"
I have one pilot that spends 10 minutes turning on his camera and checking his shots before taxi out. A little tea and biscuits talk, and pointing out company social media policy that he signed put an end to that
Re: "Influencer Pilots"
2000: Airlines want cameras in cockpits to get more information in case of an accident or crash. Pilots oppose this.
2026: Pilots want cameraas in cockpits, airlines oppose this
Certainly some common ground can be reached
