Us Crew visa for permanent residents
Hi everyone,
I’m wondering if anyone here has applied to Porter and received a job offer without already holding a U.S. crew visa.
On the application portal, it shows a U.S. crew visa as a requirement to apply. However, from what I understand, you typically need a letter of employment to apply for a crew visa in the first place.
So how does this work in practice?
Any insight or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

They’ll ask for a C1/D US Crew visa proof before the video interview. You don’t need a letter of employment for a crew visa. DM if you have more questions.

Re: Us Crew visa for permanent residents
Hello, I've just registered on this website.
I am a PR holder (Indian passport) with Transport Canada ATPL. I am planning to apply to Porter in a few months.
Is C1/D mandatory prior to application ?
If yes, Can I apply for C1D visa without having an employment letter ?
If you've applied for C1D without employment letter, what was the visa interview experience ? (Did you apply for the visa in Canada ?)
Thank you, apologies if I asked a previously asked question.

Consulates do ask for a letter of employment!

Re: Us Crew visa for permanent residents
That's factually incorrect.
I got my C1/D visa without even a flying job at hand, in anticipation of flying later.
It's also mentioned on USICS website
They don't ask for any letter, they didn't even ask for my pilot license.
Please stop misleading others

Re: Us Crew visa for permanent residents
I wanted to revisit this thread and give my 2 cents for future refrence.
I tried applying for a crew visa without having a job offer in hand, I told the officer that I will need it so it will help me get an airline job, I got refused for missing documents ( 221g ) . I was told that i can get a conditional offer or at least an email from a company that says you have a job lined up or something. I was given 1 year to provide them with the missing document.
6 months later I got offered an airline job and sent the offer to the embassy along with my passport and they issued me the visa.
It's possible to get it without a letter, i have heard from people that it all depends on the visa officer.
