The only way to really get a position "out of seniority" and get paid for it is go to management.

Those pilots are paid according to what they can hold for the purpose of being a flight instructor, for a fixed period of time, to introduce equipment to a new base. What are we talking about here? 1 or 2 pilots on the 220 in YVR?
Pilots need to stop loosing their minds over things being done in accordance with the contract, and start loosing their minds over articles in the contract that the company is ignoring, such as their unwillingness to introduce open time swaps and other negotiated benefits being grieved.

A Pilot covered under these provisions whose APOS does not reflect the new equipment type will be paid as per their original QPOS
One sucker FI takes a 220 upgrade to be a CA out of seniority only to still get paid as an FO? Is that some sort of flex? What an idiot... who cares. I don't think that guy is anyone's drinking buddy, maybe more likely look for their dad in management or something...

Re: ALPA Reps Whoring Themselves on VO
I suspect I know who this pilot is and if it's him, this is factually incorrect. He upgraded in YYZ, and later took an FI position in YVR. He didn't do it to get the upgrade. He was allowed to switch bases based on the previously mentioned article that allows moves like this out of seniority to introduce new equipment to a new base. When that time frame is expired, he will be required to return to previous base but I imagine by then he will be able to hold his position normally within seniority.altiplano wrote: ↑Thu Aug 13, 2026 2:29 pm"and get paid for it"

Perhaps voluntary overtime on an ALPA day allows one to have in-person time with one of the members for several hours to discuss what issues concern that member.

Lol...or they are self serving and are just in it for themselves and enjoy milking the members. Too bad VO can be checked. I'm sure they hate this accountability.

I honestly don't understand the fixation on the VO. Do we complain when they take also they allocated vacation? When they use a full legal rest or when they refuse to go beyond duty ?ThrustIdle wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2026 10:58 amLol...or they are self serving and are just in it for themselves and enjoy milking the members. Doing VO is doing the company a favour when they can't even implement several contract items. It's a faux pas, especially for a union rep.Man_in_the_sky wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2026 5:10 amI honestly don't understand the fixation on the VO. Re: ALPA Reps Whoring Themselves on VO
Plus these whores are getting nearly 40 hrs of credit to start the month paid by the union and your dues.
Imagine cashing out 40 hours of vacation every month to start and then picking up extra flying on VO. Every month.
Whores. Snakes. Weasles.
All on the backs of the members.
All while pushing a sub par industry contract they can't even implement. Just utter garbage.

If an ACPA rep did this, there would be hell to pay. Since it is an ALPA buddy its all good to milk the members.
Mr Worldwide: how many free steak dinners did it take to become a simp?
Re: ALPA Reps Whoring Themselves on VO
It is amazing what some will do to rationalize bad behavior that resulted in a contract that can't even beat the Quality of Life of broke ass carriers or starting pay at ULCCs.
Re: ALPA Reps Whoring Themselves on VO
It's weak for sure.
But don't let one guy and his lack of integrity break your unity and resolve to support this group to get better. Fock him. Eye on the ball, elected reps aren't ALPA, the membership is, critical year ahead, we need unity and to support each other - otherwise AC is going to run us over. Remember that it's they that think you should work more and be paid less, it's they that won't honour our last deal, that's who we're up against.

Another clueless clown who criticizes something they don’t even understand. Maybe read your contract before opening your mouth.Insanity wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2026 6:38 pm Plus these whores are getting nearly 40 hrs of credit to start the month paid by the union and your dues.

Start credits are paid by the company, not by union dues.
10.09.02.01 10 LEC Status Representatives will each be given start credits of up to 8 ALBs for use in each Block Period, at ALPA's discretion. During the same Block Period and on the same Base, days not used by the Status Representatives may be transferred to the LEC Secretary-Treasurer or other Status Representative(s). These start credits will be paid by the Company and scheduled as per A10.09.04.
Election nomination email went out yesterday. Can’t wait to see some of you genius keyboard warriors try and get on a ballot.

Re: ALPA Reps Whoring Themselves on VO
They won't. They're too lazy to read and understand their own contract, there's no way they'll ever volunteer endless hours of their time for their peers. Like I said before, he's a shill. Because if I were a management stooge looking to sow division, I would spread rage bait and misinformation just like this thread. The company couldn't script it any better.
Re: ALPA Reps Whoring Themselves on VO
Lol Dash Trash. I get it. You love this trash contract. Can only imagine the confirmation bias moving forward that despite literally every group moving forward has out negotiated the national carrier, you're like ->Dash.Trash wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2026 7:25 pmAnother clueless clown who criticizes something they don’t even understand. "things are going great. Chomp chomp. Steak & Lobster please. And I'll take your best highball. I'm watching my waist"
Imagine your best defense to Reps whoring themselves on VO instead of doing actual union work like actually implementing the trash of this contract, is to say the company pays for the ALPA Days. Lol. This will be the same guy that will say the "company wouldn't go for it" for say having any sort of meaningful productivity gains or the riddance of flat pay. Zero clue that all of us paid for the gains for ALPA days and that our very own reps are taking advantage of.
Chomp Chomp
Re: ALPA Reps Whoring Themselves on VO
What is clear is that when these guys respond to criticism with, “Well, go run if you’re not happy,” they’re telling us something about themselves. They’re either reps, or more likely involved on committees like Negots...and apparently they’re comfortable with this kind of behaviour.
Think about what that says about the culture inside the union, and remember it as we head into the next round of negotiations with the same negots team as last round.

Pretty easy to see the folks that get defensive, stomp their feet, cry that no one could do it better, and sulk in the corner.
Interesting social experiment on rationalizing poor outcomes. Same guys moving forward?

Re: ALPA Reps Whoring Themselves on VO
Honestly, at this point, I’d take an AI bot over going ahead with the same group especially my Montréal VO hog rep. Tabarnac. At least a bot would understand industry standards, comprehend industry comparisons, and conduct a proper economic analysis without relying on a bunk $1.9 billion figure that ignored the loss of profit sharing and included items that weren’t even implemented.
Re: ALPA Reps Whoring Themselves on VO
Why everyone so up in arms over the reps? They got me that 2nd boat and helping me pay for my new 25 yrs younger flight attendant girlfriend! Thank you ALPA!! Well done. Hopefully we go with the same guys next round!!!
