I generalized a bit much there. I suppose those types would be the same if anywhere else. It's just that the previous post there really pointed to it. Maybe it's the posters perspective.
Re: Air Canada Captain didn't have required license
Did I say I was launching a lawsuit? No. But I won't be surprised when someone does. I'm sure there is someone who has determined it was them that missed that upgrade, missed that 787 seat or 320 seat. Perhaps they have nothing better to do, some of those guys are here.
You obviously share that perspective that there are people who have strong feelings about seniority and that means their entitlement to a position or maybe the one they didn't get...
It's a fact that he took someone's job with his fraud. There were potentially hundreds of thousand of dollars of damages happened to people that just missed their bid for that position... I expect someone is pouring over it... we'll see.

I'd say that if this is the worst thing that happened in your career to the point of launching a lawsuit, you've led a pretty good life...altiplano wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2026 10:42 amDid I say I was launching a lawsuit? I'm sure that hypothetical suit would garner a lot of sympathy

I expect a few lawsuits as well. And really, there should be. You can't fraud people for years and then be surprised people are pissed off when they find out.
- pax flew with an unlicensed crew
- FO flew with an unlicensed captain
- AC paid an unlicensed captain
- colleagues missed out on promotions/desired schedule etc
- if it's true he was a union man, he was likely representing the pilot group illegally as well as I think there are certain license requirements for those positions too
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: Air Canada Captain didn't have required license
Not saying he would not get sued. Just saying that the Air Canada guy suing him for seniority is missing out on a lot of quality time doing just about ANYTHING but getting bent out of shape over this.
