Serious Incident FZ1073

Still a developing story. Picture showing most of the rudder torn off (unsure if this is the same aircraft).
Looks like 2 off duty Pilots saved the day.

That's a video link to some footage inside the plane. *warning* it has blood so if you are squeamish, don't load the video.
Apparently the FO tried to hijack the plane and stabbed the Captain. Both pilots were incapacitated and the plane dropped 14,000 feet in 30 seconds, nearly breaking the sound barrier. Two passengers who happened to be pilots were able to safely land the plane - they weren't deadheading.
More to come, I'm sure.

I believe they were.
Everyone onboard is very lucky they weren't shot down.

This isn't the CBC... you can use the T word.
The title has been fixed for you.

Yes - probably a matter of minutes.Daniel Cooper wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2026 6:14 pm Everyone onboard is very lucky they weren't shot down.
No way you'd be entering Israeli airspace after a 7700/7500 squawk.
I imagine the Saudis were also ready to take action.

Let’s hope AC and other airlines in Canada are as proactive as Oman Air….

Re: Serious Incident FZ1073
You know there is a problem in the country when the CBC refuses to use the word terrorists for the 9/11 attackers. All to prevent hurt feelings suppose. Our aviation risk goes up because of that kind of thinking.Eric Janson wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2026 4:19 amFrom the AC employment website:-pelmet wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2026 3:11 am Let’s hope AC and other airlines in Canada are as proactive as Oman Air….

Re: Serious Incident FZ1073
The prelim report has not come out yet so i wouldn't put any kind of judgment yet.
Guys we're all professionals here let's not succumb to paranoia. We know for certain that if any pilot wants to do something stupid, there is no one that could prevent him/her from doing it, sadly we all remember German wings.
We can analyse however we want but we need to wait for the prelim report as the CVR is intact (Hopefully)

Welcome to Redneck Airlines. We might not get you there but we'll get you close!
Re: Serious Incident FZ1073
It’s not every day that you can get such a large number of witnesses … and also those directly involved, those banding together in the struggle to save the aircraft from a complete disaster.
Re: Serious Incident FZ1073
Similar was attempted on 9/11 when multiple terrorists took over the United aircraft that crashed in Pennsylvania.

In case people have forgotten...

His only mistake was wearing his Uniform - otherwise some of you would be sharing a cockpit with him.
Then there's Omar Khadr who has flown on Air Canada multiple times despite being a convicted Terrorist. Hope you're happy he's on your flight!

Re: Attempted Hijacking FZ1073
When you grow up experiencing terror attacks, you learn that you can't wait for someone else to take action.
Re: Serious Incident FZ1073
Also this:His only mistake was wearing his Uniform - otherwise some of you would be sharing a cockpit with him.
One of the screenshots from an Instagram account allegedly belonging to Ezzo promoted the protest with the caption: "Burn in hell." Another post allegedly showed Ezzo holding a sign showing an Israeli flag being dumped into a trash can with the messaging: "Keep the world clean."
Khadr's trial was highly problematic. He was a child soldier, there was no evidence that he threw the grenade, but there was evidence that he was shot in the back by a US special forces soldier. Then there's Omar Khadr who has flown on Air Canada multiple times despite being a convicted Terrorist. He fired his lawyers and plead guilty. He spoke directly to Speer's family and said that he was sorry for the pain that he caused.
He is a traitor to this country and has manipulated the Liberal government to call him a victim.

Re: Serious Incident FZ1073
I would plead guilty for anything they want if I'm being tortured for weeks 24/7 in no man's land where no jurisdiction applies.
Omar is a fellow citizen, he's own crime was to be in the wrong place in the wrong time, any dual citizen could go back to his other country for family visit and could end up being downloaded.
Let's use our brain for something other than calculating the 3 degrees descent path, as an example, why did tower 7 collapse ?? evaporating tons of gold in it's safes

He has also manipulated the liberal and further left voters to feel sorry for him.flieslikeachicken wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2026 8:56 amHe fired his lawyers and plead guilty. He spoke directly to Speer's family and said that he was sorry for the pain that he caused.

It amazes me how many people in the west now support those that would cheer at their death by terrorist act.
Re: Serious Incident FZ1073
Except it's pretty clear from all the evidence that he wouldn't. I'd feel safer flying with him than the AC pilot mentioned above, who does have evidence of being hateful against Israelis. I'd also much prefer to fly with him than most of the prolific posters on here.

There's a video of Omar in a bomb making factory - wrong place wrong time? Family visit?canadianfly wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2026 3:41 pm Omar is a fellow citizen, he's own crime was to be in the wrong place in the wrong time, any dual citizen could go back to his other country for family visit and could end up being downloaded.
He should have been stripped of his Canadian citizenship and dumped in Pakistan or Afghanistan. Absurd that our own laws are being used against us to prevent this.
Terrorists don't have any rights - jmho.

The supreme court of Canada ruled 3 times in favour of Mr Omar Khadr, are you saying you don't recognize our justice system Eric?Eric Janson wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2026 6:54 amThere's a video of Omar in a bomb making factory - wrong place wrong time?canadianfly wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2026 3:41 pm Omar is a fellow citizen, he's own crime was to be in the wrong place in the wrong time, any dual citizen could go back to his other country for family visit and could end up being downloaded.

Mr Khadr was convicted in a foreign country by a military commission outside of the judicial system while he was 16 yo.
One last question for you Eric, had his name been Francois or Johnathan, do you think he would've been treated the same way??

Hahahaha.
But CpnCrunch would feel more comfortable flying with our famous bomb-making Afghan than the more prolific posters on AvCanada.
Can you spell deranged?
“If Omar Khadr is released on bail Thursday, he will have to wear a monitoring device and will face several conditions that restrict everything from his internet use to visits with his family.”

Members of the judiciary have recently ruled that drug trafficking is a constitutional right, so, no I don’t recognize the validity of their judgment.canadianfly wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2026 7:14 am The supreme court of Canada ruled 3 times in favour of Mr Omar Khadr, are you saying you don't recognize our justice system Eric?

Mr Khadr was engaged in combat operations against a Canadian ally in an area where Canada has no jurisdiction. The nation he injured has the right to dispose of him in the way they see fit.
If he were a White Christian Trudeau would have left him in Gitmo.
@#$! him.
