Short Call - Reserve Flight Board
Hey all,
I was having a hard time keeping track of which flights were coming up for my fleet out of my base, so I built something to fix it.
Short Call (https://shortcalls.ca/) is a free, simple tool for reserve pilots. It shows every flight leaving your base, grouped by aircraft type and in time order from right now, so you can see at a glance what you might get called for.
I started it for us at AC, but since I’m already collecting the data, I figured I’d share the wealth. It now covers Air Canada (including Rouge), WestJet, Encore, Porter, Flair, Air Transat and Jazz.
Pick your airline, base and fleet, then enter your reserve period. The board highlights the departures that fall inside it, flags flights at risk from delays, cancellations or weather, and shows live METAR/TAF for your base and destinations. You can also look up the weather at any airport and arrange the sections however you like.
No login, no app to download, and your settings stay on your own phone. Just add it to your home screen or browser.
It uses public flight and weather data, isn’t affiliated with any airline, and isn’t for operational use, so always confirm with Crew Scheduling. If you have ideas or spot a problem, there’s a feedback link at the bottom of each board. I only refresh the data every 15 minutes, to keep the costs down.
I tried my best to make it useful for other airlines. I have very limited knowledge of your reserve rules or RAP periods. If something looks really off, or you have information you want to provide, please fill out the form at the bottom of each flight board.
Take care.
