CP signing time in Logbook

Post by Bert »

Is is mandatory to have the CP of an airline you work for sign off your logbook and time when moving onto another company? Im going to do my ATR soon and just wondering if TC will look for that. Anyone know am I going to have to go around finding old CP and get ther signature on the book.

There is no requirement to have your log signed. However, when TC goes through your book if they see scads of time with a company they have never heard of they may look into it. Getting your log certified by these smaller companies will most likely make the process go smoother. Otherwise you may finding yourself trying to get letters from former CPs, which you then will have to fax to TC, which they will promply lose and ask you what you have to hide by not sending them.

So if it is easy to get it signed, do so. Otherwise you might as well wait until they actually ask you to.

Just to let you know, when I was in my local office writing the exams, the licensing officer informed me my logbook must be signed off by my CP. I have only worked for one company, and they have been around for awhile.

I was going to call BS on her statement, but frankly I was still on cloud 9 from passing their ridiculous exams.

No, not true! I met a guy who got his ATPL from TC in 5 days... without ANY stamps whatsoever in his book!!!

Goes to show ya that staying with one company goes a long way, when you're logging time for that ATPL. As long as you don't have lines crossed out, liquid papered, botched entries left and right, (and covered in nacho cheese) The process should be painless. It all comes down to who's looking at it, and how many they have to do... I'll be banking on this, when my time comes!

Good Luck

I just got my ATL signed off the last week of April. To make the process easier, I had got all my times signed off where I had worked. That included 2 different FTU's and the CP where I fly a turboprop now.

I dropped the logbook, application, etc. off at the YHM TC office by 0930. I picked it up, freshly printed at 1530, THE SAME DAY! I think having all the signatures definitely smoothed things out.

Whats wrong with whiteout? Its one of my best friends, my logbook has some of it. I thought that it looked better than having stuff crossed out.

I think that TC only really looks at your logbook if you are really close to the required hours. I sent mine in when I had about 2500 hours, and there were no problems at all. Also make sure that you fill out the aplication properly, it doesn't look good if your numbers don't jive.

Make sure your numbers add up. If they do not, you will lose your application fee and have to resubmit, whether you meet the requirements or not.

Whiteout is definately not allowed. Nor is removing pages. I am pretty sure he was trying to be funny but with Northern you never know.

i'm kind of dealing with the same thing right now, and i'm willing to bet the cp won't be signing off my logbook. does transport make any kind of allowance for a situation where the cp flipped out when you told him you were quitting?
