Anybody know if a 2 year aircraft freeze is true or not?
I have also heard about base assignment freezes but I don't think that is true.
Is the aircraft assignment still pretty much 50/50 dash/jet?
Finally, anybody know if the hiring music is going to stop any time soon?
(I know nobody has a crystal ball but there are always rumors of projected hiring....)
You don't draw a type or base you draw a number which dictates in what order you get to pick a base or type. Person who draws #1 gets whatever they want, last number gets what is left.
I have heard they are very short Dash drivers and are actually planning on increasing hiring to 40 a month. Some 300 Jazz pilots are looking to slide over to AC so no end to the hiring in sight, that is as long as AC keeps hiring.
One thing I find rather interesting is that when I started at Jazz in November, I was around 1380 on the list. As of Feb 6 GS, the last guy is #1405. I'm already around 1330 - that means 50 people have left since when I started. That's a really slow increase even though 40/mo have been hired. Looks like quite a bit are moving on.
To all you Jazzers out there = what is the situation during training? I know they pay for the hotel but do you have a room to yourself or do you have to share? What about pay? Does that 34K start as of training or is there some diminished pay until the line check?
Don't be afraid of the dash. It's a fun airplane to fly. With Jazz, you will one day fly the jet, buy maybe not the dash. Remember it doesn't really matter whaqt you fly it's all the same.
Don"t knock the Dash, it's a great airplane, I miss flying it. I liked it better than the 737-700 and the Citation Encore that I'm on now. When the winter rolls around and the runways are slippery and the winds are high you will appreciate the Dash. My friends on the RJ think it's a piece of sh&t. Even the 705.
If Air Nova was still around and I could still be based in YHZ, I'd be more than happy to fly the Dash around the maritimes until retirement.
