Crash in Edmonton?
Did anyone else hear about the 737 that allegedly "crashed short of the runway"?

Things are pretty bad in YEG right now and were worse last night. Heard KFC going missed in 0 vis and arrival told him afterwards "You're not going to believe this but runway 20 now has 2200 RVR, do you want to try it?" but alas they had no fuel for it and headed down to calgary, the third one in a list that kept growing all night. One more advantage to keeping city center open: The Urban Heat Island.

It was the 737. Apparently they landed beside the runway. 2 Captains on board.

Hey Right Seat Captain..
Just to answer you're earlier question about why there were only 31 Pax., the reason I've heard is that they were on a mine charter.

i am not in YEG now, but in subsequent winters on a shitty day the large runways, the parallel taxiway, and the large area of grass in between those surfaces can produce an illusion. If everything is covered in snow, the space in between runway and taxi can look like the proper runway.
I have been caught by it a couple of times, but am fortunate enough to not be in such poor conditions that it bit me.

Thanks DC6 driver, I cant stand all the arm chair quarter backs who are big fish in thier little pond make coments about things they don't know about.
Sorry had to edit, just read what I wrote and it sounds like I was slaging DC6. I am not. It is good to hear someone who may have been in a simular situation shed some light on what happened instead of passing judgement.

DC6, I don't want you to think I'm slagging you here, but I'm just curious how it can look like that. Most airports I've seen in a storm, I can see how the taxiway can be mistaken for a runway, but the area between taxiway and runway at most airports are cris-crossed with taxiways, and this time of year they're quite visible form the approach with their dirty snowbanks. Just wonder if you can describe what you see, so that I can avoid this myself in the future.
