Instructor shortage?

I am currently employed (thank god), not doing exactly what I like, but I am on the path. I have been instructing for too long ( 3 years) and have noticed a huge demand for instructors in the pacific region, just wondering if it is the same across canada.

Good time to be a class 4 I think, better than I had it. lol

With all the movement in the industry now, it's not a big stretch that 1000 hr. or so instructors are moving up. As for a shortage, I have trouble believing that. I'm sure there are lots of flight schools pumping out brand new instructors. Having said that, it must be hard for flight schools if their class 1's and 2's are leaving for bigger and better, and they no longer have the option of hiring class 4's.

I agree Professional. To much demand for instructors in the lower mainland right now. I heard everyone is feeling the crunch.

It won't take long now......the flight schools will smell the blood in the water.....fire up the pilot factory and promise all who dare enter their doors of a...gasp....PILOT SHORTAGE!! Not just that...a GUARANTEED job Instructing.... Just sign here, drop your pants, turn around....pick up that 152 checklist on the floor and don't you mind what we're doing back here. By the way, you owe us $35000.

Here comes another disgruntled batch of pilots....

I'm getting another beer.

I dont believe there is a shortage of inexperienced Instructors.
Class 1 and 2 guys are more in demand here in the Calgary area.
I am a Class 4 out of Calgary and would appreciate any leads in the BC area throughout the coming Summer.

There may be a shortage of instructors in the west....not too sure but I know that in the Ontario region there seems to be a real shortage of expierenced instructors. Class 4's are everywhere and having difficulty finding jobs if the school that trained them does not pick them up.

Definatly opportunity in the lower mainland -- other problem is too expensive to relocate as a new class 4 or even a three.

What places are offering a decent base salary for these Class 2 or 1 guys in demand? Probably not many, which is why as a Class 2 myself, I'd hardly consider continuing without some decent pay........it's not as though flight hours are a concern anymore. Experienced instructors need to be satisfied with excellent working conditions and pay if anyone wants to maintain them as an employee longer than a few months.

Yes, you are right. Instructors have to be offered a better incentive to want to remain in the Industry. I do okay as I just Instruct part time and I currently have other employment with all the fringe benefits. Thay way I get to keep my flying skills as well as pass on knowledge to others.
