AC April Course?

Post by captainkangaroo »

Anyone get a call yet for an April AC Mainline course? I am hearing that there will only be one in April (April 24th)?

Let the flood gates open!

If you thought people leaving for Jazz left companies in a lurch, wait until AC goes full steam ahead.

I have a woody, I gotta go now.

Two courses per month over the summer? That's great news. Is that confirmed or just speculation? I know they were planning to have two courses per month over the last couple of months but were they sucessful?

Even those in the training department will tell you that the plan changes day to day but this was told to me by an instructor who was told to get ready for the next wave. I think he is a credible source.... but who knows!

One of the March classes was cancelled, or I should say postponed. My best guess, and this IS just speculation on my part, is that there is still a backlog of guys waiting to do their IOE or get on a sim. The need is still there for the summer flying.

I just heard the other day that new hires can now go on the 320's. Anyone else hear this?

New hires can only enter the company in the position group, which is either on the embraer or as a cruiser ONLY. Now that being said, if said new hire has completed his/her initial indoctrination training, and there happens to be an equipment bid, they can bid out of the position group onto the bus, and be awarded said position only if a) they are showing a shortage on the 320 and b)the new hire can hold the 320 senioritywise. Timing is everything in this business. Hope this clears things up. I think someone already posted this somewhere here. Maybe TS or JS. They are the guys with all info about AC. Cheers!

Technically someone hired without going on a course can get the 320 if all previous stated parameters are met. But that being said, that person is technically not a 'new hire' anymore. He/she has done the indoctrination course, and was in all probability hired as an emj fo or cruiser.
This whole situation exeists only because there is an equipment bid. If there was no bid at this time, every new hire would be emj or cruiser and there would be no chance for the 320. For a new hire to go directly on the 320 they would have to abolish the position group. Things get very complicated at this point and I am not the person to explain that. So, in a nutshell, is my understanding of the present situation. Cheers!
