Thanks for the info and good luck cowboy. Flightlevels, any idea as to how many resumes are on file ? I feel pretty confident about getting a call, 8000 plus hours lots on jets p.i.c etc. My main concern is that I have other job offers (not ac or jazz) and have decided to decline them for now as WJ is my goal.

I got all fired up last Wednesday when I got 4 hits in one day, but nothing yet; a friend on the inside said I might not be considered because I do not have 4500 hours (still at 4400)--is there an actual cut-off of hours that are being considered? I have heard that most of the groundschools have guys in them that have 5000 or more.

First off, congratulations.marquisman wrote:I just got the call for Westjet today. Only thing is I just got released as captain at Canjet a week ago. Any thoughts at what to do.
Here's an opinion if you want it. The left seat is obviously a lot more fun and it will take an unknown amount of time to earn it back by coming to WestJet. You'll presently make more money as an FO at WS with less days at work and the ability to stay on the east coast if you desire.
I guess its what you want long term. If you're to stay in Canada, I'd say WestJet is a safe move and coming now you're still on the front end of the planned hiring for this year. If you want to bank on CJ improving with age, then stick it out. If CJ doesn't improve over time then you'll have PIC Jet time to shop overseas with. Either way, you're in one of those good spots with a tough choice. Best of luck with making it.

My 2 cents...
Stay where you're at, get 1000 jet PIC... then you can go alot further in the long run.
That said... it doesn't hurt to do the interview, keep your options open.

I want to die like my grandfather did, peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming in terror like his passengers...
Got a question... where could he stay on the east coast ? Aren't all the pilots based in Calgary ?WJ700 wrote:You'll presently make more money as an FO at WS with less days at work and the ability to stay on the east coast if you desire.
If there are other bases, can you choose when you get hired at WJ ?
Thanks...

If you've been reading the forums on a regular basis, you'll know that there's a kind of virtual base being set up now at WJ. It'll start in YVR, then (I'll assume here) probably YYZ. After that is anyone's guess, but I'd place my bets on YHZ, YWG, even YEG... and who knows, maybe we'll see it spread to every place we fly(I hope)
Ok... so you meant YYZ (talking about the east base)
I started about two weeks ago to read on the WJ forum. I remembered I read about YVR, but I couldn't figure which one you were refering to on
eastern Canada.
Could Montreal be a future base or it is not active enough to become a base ?...

I guess he doesn't want to be happy. Oh well. Welcome to the evil empire, It's About Time. You won't be happy here but you'll love the flying and the equipment and the salary and the people and the benefits and the lifestyle and the pension and the contract.......... and you'll even love the bad stuff. But sorry, you won't be happy. And sorry you live in yyz

I choose Red for many other reason than where I live. I'm well aware of the ports concept and wouldn't be surprised if YYZ was a base soon. Nevertheless I'm going Red and not looking back.Canus Chinookus wrote:Was the YYZ base the only reason you are going red? If so, you need to read this forum a little closer. Good luck, though!

oh come one now, was that called for? His original post, "and I live in YYZ so he decision is pretty easy" didn't leave much to the imagination, did it?tonysoprano wrote:I guess he doesn't want to be happy. Oh well.
