Was in position for a lengthy period on the button of 08R in YVR the other day. I noticed a row of about 6-8 large red markers in the marsh along the shoreline. I noticed in the Vancouver VTA it mentions staying west of the markers for VFR arrivals on the 08's.
I was just curious if anyone knew offhand what they were for?
(I'm probably going to get about a million smart *ss answers now!
Did you hear the about YVR controller giving an airplane traffic information saying I have traffic your 12 o'cock two miles type and altitude unknown and the pilot answered negative contact....

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.
If you can believe this, the landing area on the river is soon to be shared with row boats - they are laying out a course from the Coast Guard dock to the bridge.
