YYC Emergency?
Inbound to YYC from the East around 03:00Z this evening, we were going to be held at one of the bedposts because of "reduced system capacity" (ground radar U/S and Wx in the RVR's). Weather was holding minimums in rain and mist. When cleared in, we were getting vectors and airspeed restrictions because of an airplane in "distress". We were on a different frequency so we could not listen in and when we landed, did not see any blood or guts spread on the runway and no flashing red lights or CFR so it must have come to a successful conclusion. Does anyone know what it was all about?
The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.

I was suprised because ATC were going to take Air Canada over the field for a downwind left 34 and bring them around twice "because of an aircraft in distress". Air Canada said they did not have enough fuel for that and would have to head for Edmonton. This must be because of their no alternate IFR thingee but the wx was forecast to be the pits for quite some time. They finally settled on a 15 mile gate. The wx was the pits for a couple of hours so I tanked up and had lots of gas.
