WOW, Hedley.

http://www.tc.gc.ca/CivilAviation/Regse ... htm#602_01

I never thought how vague that is till I just re-read it.

An inspector could say, "Hey, you pulled the power to do a practice forced approach. Why would you do that? Back off on a perfectly good engine? You could have had carb ice! THAT'S DANGEROUS! (CAR 602.01) Gimme your licence!"

Between you and Cat, I'm getting more and more paranoid every day! Oh well, c'est la merde!

Any time an aircraft hits 100 mph or climbs above 100 feet, it is potentially endangering people on board or on the ground.

I dont see a problem there, piece of ground smooth enough to land. Plenty big, the airplane needed power to reach the parking spot after the rollout, no telltale signs of excessive breaking.

Still trying to figure out whats 'wrong' there...

Wow, it never ceases to amaze me that an aviation forum would think that normal Arctic operations would bring out so much comment.

Not only did we do it with Super Cubs such as in that video we landed off airport with Twin Otters and DC3's. It is just a normal work day.

Too many South Landers posting about the 'wild' flying. Everyday practice in the right plane. Man do I miss the good old days!

Next time you're in a pilot shop flip through a copy of Sparky Imeson's "Mountain flying Bible"........ It's not as big a deal as you think.

(actually, I'd love to get into that sort of flying)

Anyone have any ideas as to the type of airplane. I was thinking HelioCourier. An airplane I would love to try out.
