Why don't you take your $52K USD and blow it all on blow and getting blown.

Daddy can always come up with another $50K and set you up with another buddy who owes him a favour.

Chris,

If you want to go to the USA, then go for it. If I had my greencard, then I'd probably be somewhere in California right now instead of up north.

But listen to what some of these people are saying. 18K is what most regional FOs make if they are lucky! Have you heard about Mesaba Airlines and all the crap they are going through now? They have proposed a pay of $12,000 for their pilots to fly Saabs and CRJs. That is absolutely pathetic.

Keep in mind too that the cost of living is a lot higher in the USA in most cities.

Go to http://www.flightinfo.com or http://www.clear-and-a-million.com and check out the Regional Airline message forums. Review the posts and see for yourself what life is like as a CRJ FO in the USA. There is way more bitching in those forums about their jobs than there is here on avcanada!

The grass is always greener on the other side.

Why don't you post a picture of yourself all dolled up with your outfit when you "make" it! Enjoy your life as a career F/O - at least you might get to train with this hottie...

you have to admit though, working the ramp for 10$/hr or flying an RJ and making 18K isn't a tough question if you're looking to build time. i suppose down the road you can always move back to Canada. all in all, i think some of the schools in the states are decent and definitely get you into nicer equipment a lot sooner.

let us know how it all works out. i toured the delta academy in florida. seemed like a decent way to build time since you're put into an instructor position and get about 750 PIC in 18 months. if you have the work permit, 95% of the grads go onto FO positions with skywest/ASA etc.
