I was simply giving you some facts. If you want to use your 856 and 872 scenario then maybe you should elaborate with the fact that those are only two flights. If you are on that particular bird then you could also be getting Tokyo, Bejing, Tel Aviv, Hong Kong, Delhi, etc. If you think a YVR turn does more damage to your system than flying over the pole all month long then I have a cream puff used car you might like.

If a guy started late at Air Canada which is why he feels he needs to stay, then I doubt he will have the seniority to cherry pick only two flights in his last five years.

In your opinion, this is a human rights issue. Well when does it stop? Shall a guy who joins at the age of 50 be allowed to work till 80 because he wants a full pension? Do I now have a right to sue as a result of being forced to work to 65? Why don't you wait and see the results of the latest vote on this issue with the MEC. I think you will find that the vast majority don't want to go beyond 60. Not to mention the obvious, we have all been flying long enough, let someone else carry the torch for awhile.
Interesting comments from all. I am not an airline pilot ,never was and never will be(age) so I can't comment on the ups and downs of that type of work. Having said that, I do know a few airline pilots(AC, ex-Canadian etc) in my age group those I do talk to can't wait to see themselves clear(for whatever reason) and get out . To some , even a slight penalty on pension is starting to look attractive, that's why at my age level 55-60, we look at the numbers quite closly, especially at 60 yrs as your pension at that time is un-reduced and you can take a reduced CPP also.
At our age, no matter who you flew for ,how you got there, what you put up with," perhaps I should have done this", is now water under a high bridge which is way downstream and that is where it belongs. :)
