Need AME Work

Post by Fox 3 »

I'm currently located in Ontario and I really really want to live in Alberta...it's been a life long dream, I visited once, and loved it ever since. Problem is that I'm a 4th year apprentice and all I need is some tasks for my logbook and I get a license. Seems not many companys are keen on hiring me either because I don't have a license, or because I'm in Ontario. The way I figure it is that for the time it will take me to get my tasks completed they can pay me less because I'm an apprentice, and then when I do get a license it's like I've already been trained at their operation and would fit right in. The other thing is that essentially it's only gonna take me as long as they want for me to get a license, I could spend the first week just getting tasks done, and then bang! licensed. I'm not frustrated yet, but I'm getting there....I really want to work and be in Alberta, but I don't wanna move to say Calgary, just to find out the job I get is in Edmonton. Man oh man...is anyone else having trouble finding AME work these days? it just seems there are no jobs to get, and believe me...it's not for lack of trying! Anyways if anyone out there can give me some advice, or leads on work it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

BTW: i hope this doesn't sound like i'm whinning, just looking for some insight. I still wouldn't trade my career choice for anything else.

There is lots of work out there, its just a matter of looking in the right spots, & It helps not to be to picky. The chances of you getting hired over the phone are not great, unless its for the NORTH, or you have a licence. Look into places like Red lake or Thompson. Then when you get a Licence you can go where you want.
Good Luck
