Selection Process
Probably a shot in the dark, but does anyone have an insight on the current selection process and how everything is put together to make a final decision? Can you do poor on a cog and still pass. Can you do poor on interview and still pass. How much importance is placed on physiological questionnaires and so on. Any personal experiences (your feelings on how you did on all parts) out there from those recently hired would be nice to hear as well.
What I was told an the interview is that the Cog, Psyche results, as well as the interview itself, reference letters, experience, education, etc are all factored in at the end when making a final decision. It used to be that the interview was the "be all, end all". Not anymore. You can do so-so at the interview (we all get nervous), and do a lot better on everything else. Hope this helps. Any else have another info?

But seriously, I know some really good people who have been PFO'ed and some complete goofballs who were poor pilots, called in sick all the time, and were the last I'd expect to get hired, so all Im trying to say is that I dont know anyone who can figure out the way they choose people....
Alright fine. I think you meant to say psyche test, not physiological one. But whatever, the psyche is stupid, who cares, can't they determine if your a freak in the interview, come on.
I know of some PFO'd people and to be quite honest, WTF, they were all quality dudes/gals. Not sure why but thats just he way it goes i guess.
Well, gotta hit the fridge up for another pop.

About 10 years ago, AC hired a high time 737 Commander. The resume was quite impressive and everyone who flew with this guy prior to AC said great things. References were awesome.
During his initial line check as a direct entry Captain on the RJ, he came reeling around the corner with the apu running, shut down both engines and coasted to the gate.
Needless to say, his career at AC was a short one. He coudn't understand why AC was upset, apparently they did that all the time where he was before.
Point of the story, it isn't so much how many hours you have, it is what bad habits will they have to try to get rid of? What type of a person are you?
I know many high time guys with great experience in the left seat of Jet transports but they have never been able to get away from the midnight freight . with a 30 day escape clause. After 20 odd years, you have to start asking why?
