All you Liberal voters, step up now and tell us all how happy you are to see this happen.

You read about the pending railway protests? Some tribes in Manitoba are protesting a 1903 land deal and will block a certain rail line for one day. Of course the operator of the line is seeking a legal way to prevent this from happening so the chief of the band spearheading the protest says he'll block the railway himself. Quoted in the paper as saying "see what happens when they put a chief in jail." Move on..... just move on and stop being such a pathetic, whinning bunch of individuals.
Everything comes in threes....
Elect me and I'll have this issue resolved, I'm in talks with the cherokee, for 10 million they will kill those in our country that we are harbouring... That's right harbouring, according to the 1325 cherokee and indian talks, the cherokee were slaughtered by the northern bands, a few made it to the south, genocide is illegal, and now either the hague will get rid of our genocidal friends or the cherokee will be allowed to exert revenge on their enemies.. =)
And so says the accords of 1325 prove me wrong. =)))) As such all other land "deals" canada has made with the nazi's is null and void...

Remember those "cow catchers" they used back on the steam trains. Or, maybe they should get the snow plows out of storage. That would clear a 1977 Caprice Classic off the rails!
I have a friend who is German. During a lengthy discussion on the war crimes of WW2 and restitutions paid to certain groups, he asked a question of me. "How long do we pay for our fathers sins?"
Some of the German issues are still being challenged but are largely settled.
Applying the same question to the native issues in Canada, How long do we have to pay?? Enough with the PC crap. This country needs a one time settlement, after which, all citizens are treated equal. Everyone is expected to support themselves and pay taxes into the system that provides "temporary" safetynets.

The problem is that the law states that native people are wards of the federal government. That's what was agreed to for the peaceful exchange of land in this country. Unless the treaties are ripped up or the federal and native people can agree on ammending the treaties then nothing can be done about it. I agree that it would be nice if native people we're intergrated into the rest of society but unfortunatly it's not that easy. Unless we're a nation that doesn't honour our agreements.gr8gazu wrote:

As I stated, all we need to do is get some US indians to proclaim they were wronged by our natives, that would prove that our natives aren't the rightful owners to the lands they "gave up" as such we would no longer need to honour our agreements....
And like I said, I'm sure we can find a tribe down in New Mexico willing to take a few million to "search" for some incriminating evidence that our indians are evildoers and had no legal claim to the land earlier...
=)
I though there was an agreement, the Kelowna Accord, which was supposed to settle this shit with a one time payment. Harper decided to cut the payment by 85% and now all the indiginous folk are up in arms. How much do they need? And I'm sure that once they sherry it up with the new money and it's all gone they'll block more roads and kick up more fuss and want more because they were "ripped off."

The Kelowna Accord didn't agree to anything other then agreeing to come to an agreement. The Liberals loved doing this kind of thing because hey felt they could take some credit for something at the same time do nothing. These we're the same tactics used with Kyoto and childcare.ei ei owe wrote:I though there was an agreement, the Kelowna Accord, which was supposed to settle this shit with a one time payment. This was pulled right off the Liberal website. Notice all the "buzz" words and phrases that really don't say anything. I tried looking for the actual Kelowna Accord and wasn't able to find it. If anyone has a link please post it.The Accord, which was signed November 25th 2005, aimed at narrowing the gap between non-Aboriginal and Aboriginal Canadians in such important areas as housing, health care, economic opportunities and education.
It includes concrete plans for progress in all these areas, as well as benchmarks for measuring progress. Just as important, it was also supported by a commitment from the federal government of more than $5 billion – money the previous Liberal government accounted for in its budgets and planning.
You'll never find it, because it doesn't exist. There was nothing to call an "accord". It was only an eve-of-the-election attempt at vote grabbing, just another one of Paul Martin's 10,000 "very, very important" issues that he "tended" to while in office. There will be more reminders of his uselessness to come...Dust Devil wrote:This was pulled right off the Liberal website. Notice all the "buzz" words and phrases that really don't say anything. It was awfully easy for me to find something that "doesn't exist". Sorry Charlie, you lose.charlie_g wrote:You'll never find it, because it doesn't exist. There was nothing to call an "accord". So a document that describes an "accord" that has no funding validates an accord that is supposedly all about funding? I don't think so:Guido wrote:

"Securing funding for the Kelowna plan was made difficult by the context in which the Accord was signed. Nor were reliable mechanisms developed to keep the process moving ahead before Parliament dissolved, on 29 November 2005, just four days after the FMM.``

Ohya and I thought our law also said that Discrimination was against the Law, ohya and Canada also signed on with the United Nations for Human Rights which state as follows:
Article 1.
All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
Article 2.
Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty.
Article 21.
(1) Everyone has the right to take part in the government of his country, directly or through freely chosen representatives.
(2) Everyone has the right of equal access to public service in his country.
(3) The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government; this will shall be expressed in periodic and genuine elections which shall be by universal and equal suffrage and shall be held by secret vote or by equivalent free voting procedures.
And it keeps on going, but i guess non of that is true in Canada.

They should all be made to work .
Give them all picks and shovels and let the build roads up north. From Yellowknife to Churchill for starts.Working for Welfare .End the centuries of handouts.
No country can afford to feed and cloth so many non-producers for ever.
Who knows building roads may even give them a sense of accomplishment .Actually doing something for the country.
