June - July Courses?

Post by F-16 »

Just curious,

Anyone know if there are still two courses a month being scheduled at AC? I know the last one ended June 23rd, but did one start on the 26th?

Thanks.

For what it is worth, I did hear that they are reducing the number of courses temporarily in an attempt to reduce the log jam at the simulator.

hey rock do u know their backgrounds? I interviewed in may, went back for the medical several times, and once cleared, still no call! Are these guys from off the street or Jazz. A bit curious about their experience. Maybe I am not competitive.

If you had the interview, you are competitive. Just a waiting game now based on how you scored in the interview. Good luck.

HappyCamper, All three of them were interviewed from the Jazz list. I know of another guy along with myself, who have been offered the job and now waiting for a course date. Both of us are from Jazz.

I had another friend at jazz get the call saying he is hired pending the medical. Is this a courtesy they give the jazz guys. It seems that the offline guys only know when they have assigned them a class. I might be wrong here. I have a few friends waiting including myself with alot of 121 airline experience, no letters, nothing. Thanks!

thanks yyc. You might be right! Although I had trouble getting the pen to work on the cog test. I got the second grade math probs wrong because that darn pen would not click on the box, ugg. Oh well did the best I could. Glad to hear some good guys are getting the call! Thanks for your feedback rock, congrats on getting hired.

I was the same as you on the cog test.. I had troubles not only with getting the light pen to work, but also the left/right arrow keys.. didn't work well for the "see saw" exercise... oh well.....I wonder if it really matters? Seems like a fairly poor instrument to me.. especially since it is dependent on somewhat faulty technology/equipment... just my opinion.

call back?

Post by tbone »

Have people been having the same problems with the cog test.. i.e. technical difficulties? I have not been called back for a medical, but it has only been 4 business days since the interview, so that doesn't particularily worry me.. I assume it is a matter of a couple of weeks before people are asked to come back for a medical.... What are other people's opinion of the quaility of the cog test?
I personally think that since the computer has been used so much lately for that test, that perhaps some things (eg. pen/keys) may be tired?

Guys don't sweat it. The unreliable pen is all part of the test. Want to see how you deal with frustration. Everybody I talked to, including myself, had the same problems.

I get the impression that they are really backlogged. The only ones that I know that have be told they are hired that have interviewed since May 1 have been jazz guys.

as for the medical, it's a surprise why we need 2 medicals... If the airline is going to do a medical on us, then we might as well just do the medical that apparently means more to the airline as opposed to the class 1. Just a thought, because myself i don't know what the big difference between the class 1 and the airline medical is, because if you can pass the class 1 medical, but not the airline medical, i find it a bit wierd for anybody knowing if they will be fine for a career in avation. For all i know there could be many healthy tarts around who have a small issue that would withdrawl them from being able to fly for an airline while Transport Canada thinks they are fine. Isn't this a bit wierd?

Good Luck everybody !

A TC medical determines if you're fit to operate an aircraft, i.e. you don't have an conditions or issues that may render you incapable. Pretty lax, in my experience. An AC medical determines if you're a good investment for the company, i.e. you don't have any conditions that may render your career short-lived. This is why they do bloodwork, hook you up to the electro-thingamajingy, look again at your hearing and eyesight, look into your family history, etc. Just seems all more stringent, comparing the two.

IMHO. Anyone have anything to add?
