Are you all antisocial or just too busy admiring your watches?

I stopped saying 'Good morning' and 'Thank you'. Think of the countless lives I've saved by decongesting the airways.

It does go the other way. There's no shortage of the idiots who DON'T make traffic calls, and I've have a few near misses in the middle of seemingly nowhere because I had no idea they were there.

I'm one of those geeks who like to already have the next sector dialed up on the VHF so when whe get the "contact ME now on 13X.XX..." I FLICK! and say "Howdee!"

So the other day we get a freq I've never heard of, followed by another new freq. Wierded out I say..." those weren't the frequencies we were expecting". It turns out YEG ACC allocated 2 new high level frequencies to that sector to relieve workload of the low level controller.

If I weren't such a keener, we'd have never had those new stations written on our HI untill the new PAL's came out on the next pub date. Good thing I like to clog up the airwaves eh? :)

Im starting one of those old fashioned radio shows while on the MF every morning; one of my students has a killer beatbox, so he is AWSOME for making sound effects; were starting a new flash Gordon episode tomorrow if anyone is in Duncan… 122.8! maybe we should simulcast on Vancouver center….. Im sure BA, and CP would like some entertainment after a 13 hr flight.

You can have fun with a flip-flop radio, if someone is monitoring 2 frequencies, you dial them into the active and standby, and hit the transfer button as fast as you can while you talk ...

Yep, YEG center has gone to a high/low split on their Edmonton Enroute specialty. Lloyd sector is now a low level sector only, and Jasper is the new high level sector on top of it.

The same thing is being done to Calgary Enroute as well, apparently, so all you SHAWI ALOMO flights will have a different freq. sometime soon as well. . .

For music suggestions, I'm a fan of singing/humming the classic REM song " it's the end of the world as we know it" Really freaks out my FO when I start that when we're dodging CBs. Other than that, a little Johnny Cash is always good. Nine Inch Nails, Three days grace, Seether will all get you a nice fine for the grown-up words in the songs. Buck Cherry's "crazy bitch" would be epic.

My fav is "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" - the guy in the right seat doing the bass "Owimboyway, Owimboyway", and left seat goes for the falsetto and keys the mike button: "In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight".

For dodging Cb's, esp at night this is my personal fav. If you bellow it out loud enough, you can freak everyone else on the airplane out:
Well its been building up inside of me
For oh I don't know how long
I don't know why
But I keep thinking
Something's bound to go wrong
