HappyCamper wrote:Any new news anyone. For the exception of jazz guys who have been interviewed since late april, anyone get called? Any guys get called back for the medical and still waiting? I havnt heard anything since i interviewed in early may, went back for the medical a week later. I am hoping that means something good. Just turned down a class date with Continental. Hope they call me! Anyone know anything! Hope everyone had a good holiday!
Ohh my.....I would never had turned down a Continental class date. They have 50% of their pilots retiring in like the next 10 years....asumming they stick aroound that's movement for ya. It's not pay for training or a training bond so never turn something down that won't cost you ESPECIALLY if you don't have another class date to back it up.

Sorry again but you turned down Continental without a class date at AC?!?!?!. I turned down Westjet but had my AC date I was prepared to accept Westjet and wait for AC but didn't have too...luckily. Good Luck.

Well I turned down the class. This was my logic, I am not sure if AC has contacted my employer or if they plan to. If the do and find out I have left for another job I am sure they wont be inclined to hire me. Second, I have a few friends there, and I am aware of the retirements. However, I am not so certain on having a pension or health care when I retire in the US. It may be the same situation here, hope not, but AC does give me a nice pension, health care ect. I turned down this class date, I am still in the pool. I just dont want to burn a job I really want. Doesnt AC have numerous retirements coming. I sure 29 years till 60 at AC will give me a decent pay and retirement. I know this costs me senority at CAL, but I would really want to retire with big red up north. Maybe this was a mistake, but so far no rejection its been 8 weeks.

Fair enough. You're better off happy at your job then taking something just for that sake. If you only had to turn down a date and not the job entirely then the only thing loss is some seniority. I guess I did the same thing at Westjet - let one class slip by while waiting for AC.

Got friends at CAL and they say the same thing - all not roses. Retirements are big at AC but at CAL and Northwest they're huge, assuming NW ever hires again. Best of Luck just don't turn down CAL outright with no word from AC. You can try to let AC know about the other offer but I've heard of others doing this only to get a PFO while others got the call the next day........

thanks for the ifo its about time. Not sure what do. Is the company waiting for a bid to let us know. Are they only letting jazz guys know now. No one that I know the has interviewed since last april has gotten a call who wasnt jazz. Not sure what I should do. I heard it you call the PFO comes soon. I am not sure if they are in a summer slowdown.

HappyCamper....
I am in the same position as you. I have interviewed 4-5 weeks ago, no PFO ( as yet) and I am waiting for a medical date. The only advice I can give, ( not that I am some kind of guru or anything) is just be patient. Do not try and figure out why some have got the call earlier than others, it is just the way it is. I really hope that you get a positive confirmation, but trying to stack yourself against others based upon their times, experience, employer will only make you go insane! I am sure that you did well, so just try and relax until the call comes.
Tailgunner.
PM me if you would like, and we can compare notes.

thanks tailgunner, i did do the medical a week later, so i got that going for me. I just know senority is everything. Heck they can give me a number and Iwill wait as long as they want lol. Well good luck to you, maybe we will see each other in class. I think they are giving the jazz guys preference. I think they got the shaft for a while! Take care!

Anyone know how many have been hired over the past year, or since the recent hiring spree began?

Is there still talk of 600 spots?

Any new news on the hiring? I was wondering, I have a friend who knows a couple very senior AC guys. I dont know them, but they will be willing to go in and ask about me. Is this a bad idea. I dont know these guys and they cant vouch for me but they are willing to go down and ask. Good or bad idea. I really want to get on here! thanks guys best of luck!

I interviewed 6 weeks ago and no word yet. Was told by a collegue who interviewed a week after me that a call to AC revealed that many in the HR department are on leave and indicated there is a slow down in courses due to vaction period. Think July and Aug courses may be full.
Certainly would be nice to get word to at least indicate you will be hired in the future rather then waiting for the PFO letter.

Awwww pooor babies have to wait! LOL There are so many threads on here with guys asking when, where and how AC will notify them. Let me save you the aggrevation sport, they do things different from week to week. What is the norm today will be different tomorow. Sit back, have a beer, enjoy summer and wait for your PFO, errr I mean call(JINX). MUAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA

At least you were not one of those whiney dweebs who has to rush on and ask a guy that got hired what his time was so you could compare it with yours and wonder why they haven't called you yet. LOL AC is interviewing everyone these daays. If you can't an interview in this environment, consider yourself an aviation loser! MAUHAHHAHAHHAHHAHA
