Dash-8 Gravel Ops

Post by sanjet »

Does anyone know operators that regularely operate DHC-8-100's on gravel ops. Do they use "gravel kits" like the first air 737's? I heard about it, really sounds cool.

Air Cree flies the dash regularly into 3500 ft gravel strips up and down The coast of Hudson's bay and Quebec. I am sure there are others as well. No gravel kit required, as far as I remember.

Here is a pic of the 400 up in Churchill when they were cold weather testing it. Apparently the grey sections are part of the gravel kit. I don't know what else the kit includes other then the fuselage reinforcement.

Air Creebec has 3M belly tape on the bottom it is almost level with the bottom of the pax door when applied. They have it on the B1900 as well.
