It's probably ready but knowing how things work around here they probably programmed it so that it comes out at 1659 on saturday even though no one will be in the office. :?

It will be out on Monday:

July Position Bid: Last Monday we received a brief report from the CRC, relayed to us through the MEC Executive. The word at the time was that the bid would consist of base balancing, attrition, and in Calgary, an increase in approximately 15 Captain Positions. As the bid publication date falls on a weekend this time, the bid should be out on Monday, July 17.

Contract states you have no less than 15 days to put in your bid... then the company has up to 14 days to post results.

BTW... where will it be published? (the bid, I mean)

Jazz spots

Post by bear1 »

This list of open seats, are these NEW spots due to expansion or just a shuffle of current pilots ?

27 new spots, and please don't ask where they might be. That will not be known until the bidding process is complete and the awards have been made.

From what they tell us this means a current requirement of 27 new hires.....strange though as I thought that the company was going to hire 10 per month for the next year from an earlier memo.

Do the 27 new hires include Captain positions, or strictly new FO's?

If you want to be a Captain at Jazz you can get in line, it's about 8 years long.

"it's about 8 years long."

That was before the expansion, I would guess it's going to be much longer than that now.

That being said, one can only hope that come 2009, the FO pay scale gets a little bump if they expect guys to stick around.

Looks like they were a little overzealous in filling the YYZ RJ FO positions!

11 too many out of say 200 isn't too bad. I guess you could have put those 11 strait to yyc but with no capt.'s to work with they'd just sit. At least work'em in YYZ,then pay to move them to YYC (lots actually live in yyc so they won't cost much). Business changes day to day so you either move them or deadhead them. Lots of extra flying out west right now. eg yyc-lax, yeg-lax, yyc-yzf, yeg-yzf, yyc-comox, yeg-yyj, yeg-ylw, yyc-palmsprings have/will start since march.

PS Disco Stu glad to see they made you wear a life jacket. or does excessive booze make you float good.

The bid has to close in two weeks then be filled, then unfilled positions will be known. Then actual hiring numbers should be determined and will include attrition to mainline. The bid growth only accounts for total postions in the company not the actual number of pilots employed ie there maybe 27 new positions but all the current vacancies may not be filled yet. Throw in at least 50 guys rite now with course dates at mainline but held for another 1-2 years at jazz ans the actual hiring numbers to go are a crap shoot

PS Disco Stu those rj postions in yyz may not even be filled yet and I bet there will be more than 11 rj fo's in yyz that leave to mainline in the next 6 months to year.

My oversized gut makes me float well. The excessive booze makes my gut bigger. So yes, excessive booze does make me float "good".
