Groundpilot's got some good advice there. Make sure to head out to Montreal on the weekends with the boys. It gives you something to look forward too. Check out http://www.army.ca too. There is a WEALTH of information there about every aspect of basic, SLT, OJT, etc...
Don't listen to the detractors, you've got nothing to worry about. Start living the dream.

Capt. Cool,There is a lot of good advice and comments given in this thread... I'm in the training mill myself holding down a great OJT posting while I wait for YMJ and pinch myself everday for this opportunity...Congratulations and good luck with your training.
Petite, good luck with the selection process.
Cheers

Thanks everyone for all the help. Can't believe all the helpful info posted.. I'm learning quite a bit...sounds like a long journey but im sure in the end it will be well worth it. I already have a commercial license so it isn't the flight training that scares me as much as the initial training.. I guess I should finish this beer and go for a run.
Cheers

Don't worry the flight training will be challenging too! The only difference for me was I didn't care how I did prior to flight training as long as I passed.Capt. Someone's got a reality check coming! The commercial license will help you out for a few flights in but long before you solo your peers will be on a level playing field. Booklearning some IFR stuff will help ease the curve on the groundschool.groundpilot wrote:Don't worry the flight training will be challenging too! Thats a ways down the road though. Keep your eye on the prize, but ya gotta focus on BOTC and such first. Oh and I gotta throw my .02 into the BOTC advice too I spose:
The course is about how well you deal with authority and all the menial crap they ask of you, and being on a team with 40 random people for 4 months in stressful situations and less on the importance of building tripods and pulleys and getting your knees parallel with the ground. It's supposed to suck, and when you get done you'll laugh with your new friends about how great it was during the suck. Montreal is a great city, enjoy it.
Ok thats all.
