painted wings

Does anyone know why Swearingen/Fairchld paint the wings, engine nacelles and horizontal stab on the SA 226AT and SA 227AT Merlin 4/4C but leave the almost identical SA 226TC and SA 227 AC Metro 2/3 unpainted. I am talking about the long body series airplanes

I'm not sure but i have heard that the wings were not being painted because of something to do with conductivity with lightning strikes. I could also be totally wrong. Any takers?

Wet wings, no fuel bladders they are always leaking fuel therefore paint won't stick.
