Nice work! Brings back memories of my first instructing gig also in a 140 at Springwater. I see the runway still has no centreline.

Things look quite a bit differant now, where are you out of now? The run way is still the same, except a few more cracks........and there is a driving range and miniput there....so thats pretty sweet....i wonder if I am insured against golfballs....they come close.

Well done niss, nice sane flying.

Now all you need is to shoot a mile high video for us and use Haz as the director.

After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

What do I do? Watch the altimeter and say, "cumming through 5280"?

Ahh yes.. good old Barrie Springwater airport. Brings back nice memories of the 2100' x 40' runway. I thought I'd seen it all there though till I actually watched a cherokee taxi out with 3" of clearence between the tail and the ground today.

Nice vid, looks like you're really enjoying the new plane.

Don't forget RWY 25 is 1900' usable. I got called into the office on my first instructing flight there for coming in too low...CFI was worried if an 18-wheeler was on Anne St. I would have made contact with it.

Funny thing is I made a vid in CFUBC about 10 years ago (it's on video cassette in a box somewhere). Nice to see that old girl's still making someone happy.

Ahh the memories.

Cheers!

Never figured out why that airport was called "Barrie executive". Do "business executives" like using the shortest possible runway around, for the extra thrills they don't get from their secretaries any more?

The Lake Simcoe Regional Airport came from an idea that was born back in 1975. In that year a committee, known as the Barrie Airport Advisory Committee, was appointed with the purpose of pursuing funding for airport development through the Province of Ontario. Following expansion of the Provincial Airport Development Program in 1976, the Committee regrouped and, in 1977, published a report entitled "Report on a Proposed Barrie and District Municipal Airport". This report examined the merits of the existing airport in Barrie (Barrie Executive Airpark - Anne Street), and concluded that its 640 m. (2100 ft.) runway was not capable of expansion due to urban encroachment. A recommendation was made that a municipal airport constructed on a new site would benefit the district, and selection of a site for an airport should be initiated.
Maybe it was prestige when it was the only one?

Wow bob, a thread so I can spread my joy, and show off my new toy, while everyone else congratulates me and encourages me you have to come and take a giant shit on my parade....well good for you bob....you really showed me this time.......You really showed us how somewhere out there there is always a dark cloud in the sky and no matter how good things look there is someone who can prove you wrong. So hold your head high bob......just take comfort in knowing that you can always put a frown on someones face....so go ahead bob yell at a baby and rob the homeless....because tonight is your night to shine dickhead.
