Bird Strike

Post by Chop&Drop »

On take-off this morning, there was around 50-100 gulls and sure enough I hit one of them. No damage to the plane, and tower came on after a runway inspection saying that they had found one carcas.

The question is should I file a bird stike report? I work for a flying school and it was in a small single engine prop aircraft (if that makes any diffrence).

Thanks.

By all means fill out a bird strike report. Even though there is no damage... it still assists in building statistical information.

My 2 cents....for what it is worth.......... 8)

At my flight school they had a poster warning to file all bird strikes, I guess the point is that even though there is no problem now, it may be responsible for an accident in the future?

One time this goof in a bar was being a bird so I striked right where he shoves his mashed pataters 'intah'.

The cops made me fill out a report.

So yes...fill out a report.

Information like this is vital in recognizing new problem areas. I understand that the information gathered is invaluable in helping to chart and recognize paterns in wild life activity. One can appreciate that Mother Nature is forever changing, especially with the meddling of man, and as such, an area that was traditionally safe might become otherwise. So the answer is yes please fill out one of those forms and you'll be helping keep us all safe, birdies included.

Alright, I will fill one out then. I just wasn't sure, becuase I was looking at the form on the TC website and it seemed like it was more geared to the big guys then us small aircraft.

Thanks for the advice.
