I believe the original poster is referring to Northern Air Charter in Peace River, AB. You seem to be thinking of North American Charters. I might be wrong though.CAL wrote:whats the PC12 paying for FO's these days at NAC?

I see our new name may be causing some confusion.
North American Charters is now known as NACair (check out http://www.nacair.ca). Pay is competitive, and cost of living in Thunder Bay is quite low.
I am curious, though, Ottopilot...who might be offering you the job (and in what department)? Feel free to pm me...curious if your resume is one of the ones on file right now. There will certainly be movement in the coming months, as people are still seeking that next step. It's a great place to work...hard to find its equal as far as progression from your ground position to Turbine PIC.
Best of luck...

In a world full of people, only some want to fly. Isn't that crazy?
Time on the ground right now is anywhere from 6-12 months, depending on how your timing works out with other hires and movement/expansion. Once you start flying, you can expect to log anywhere from 1000-1200 hours a year, and the current minimum for internal upgrades seems to be around 1500 hours (if you're ready, in the opinion of the Captains and Chief Pilot).
All in all, it happens pretty quickly. As for any new planes, and what they might be? Big new hangar...who knows what will fill it? All sorts of rumours...I guess time will tell.

The original North American Charters was owned by a local businessman, was a charter company, and if memory serves me correctly, often went down to Southern Ontario to pick up parts for mines, etc.
The company was re-invented as North American Charters 2000 (in you guessed it....2000) as a partnership between three northern First Nations communities and the same businessman (we miss you, Rollie!), and became a scheduled carrier out of Thunder Bay serving the three ownership communities.
After adding a couple of planes, a Sioux Lookout base, and expanding to a few more communities, the company added a couple of new owner communities, and eventually became 100% First Nations owned. When this happened (in mid-2005), the company became North American Charters LP (pretty much a legal change).
So, with seven planes (for now...), a big new hangar in Thunder Bay, and a Winnipeg base, I guess the powers that be decided it was time to ditch the old name, as we rarely did any charters at all. Since most of the folks in the North knew the company as NAC (thanks to the clever old logo), they figured NACair was a good new name. Thus, a new name and logo came to be, a new website (much-needed!), and soon we may even have a new livery (or a livery period, for that matter) to go along with them.
SO...maybe a little long-winded, but at least now everyone's on the same page. Same company, pretty much the same owners all the way through, and a pretty solid place to come to work every day.
Now I have to go soak my fingers in water...too much typing.
