Breitling wrist watch

Post by longjon »

Not sure if the spelling is correct but those in the know know the Swiss watch
Did someone have one for sale here recently in passing re airshows?

Just thought Id mention my bud has one they cant repair and he was threatning to put it on E Bay not a good advertizement for Breitling but I never heard the final outcome

Personally I wear a 40 dollar Timex and having spent the last rotation with Saudi (big watches) and Swiss ( they think they invented the watch) people it was so good to watch (pun intended) their eyes look at my broken wrist band and fight their words of discust at the sight of a broken band on a cheap watch

Do we find the price of the watch going along with the hrs and yrs put in(pilots) or are some like me and refuse the honor and wear $40 watches.

I stopped wearing a watch many years ago because the airplane has a nice clock and so does my cellphone.

A real Brietling with a logo on it Snowbirds Blue Angels etc can set you back like 8500. Pretty cool if you were a Snowbird, but, well, I'm not.

The Stopwatch, multi time zone, digital/analog, alarm, stop watch & countdown features are cool... The ELT feature, in a couple years when SAR switches to 406 from 121.5, is... not so cool.

A Casio, or that Wingman my cojo has can do the same for 8300 less bucks.

For 8500, you can fly to Thailand, live for 4 months, and buy a dozen fake breitlings. Keep one, and sell the rest to you buddies. Still look cool, be tanned, and not totally broke.

Being a rich and aging captain, I sought out a watch that reflects the honour and glory of my position and got a 60 dollar timex. Between my boss, my wife and my co-pilot I will always know that I am late. No need to time that to the second.

My last 2 or 3 watches have been Timex from Walmart. They're $40, they have a velcrow strap, and they have all the basic necessities. My next watch will most likely have a velcrow strap too.

Personally, I hate the big fancy "pilot" watches and I never plan to wear one or buy one. They're overpriced, and they're too big for my skinny wrists ;)

There's always Dollarama, just go there and buy five disposable watches for five bucks. Repeat as necessary.

For myself, I find Breitlings scream "LOOK AT ME, I AM A PILOT". Of course not everyony with a Breitling is like that, but in my experience quite a few that wear one have "pilotitis". Dont get my wrong, I think they make great watches, but they are sort of like BMWs - great product, but too many a$$holes own one. Just my 2 cents from past experiences! (All in good fun!)

I know a couple people who have Breitlings, they're ridiculously expensive but believe it or not they don't keep good time. You need a new time hack every few days

You dont happen to drive a BMW do ya?
Hehehe! Just kidding Birddog. I just couldn’t resist. Like I said all in good fun.

Here is a little story for you:
I used to be a DJ quite a few years ago before marrying my aviation pager.
One night before it got busy, I was chatting with the bartender whom I was dating at the time. A few minutes into our conversation, this dude walks up and orders a drink. While she is turned around he tries to impress and pulls out his Private Licence holder along with his wallet and deliberately drops the holder behind the bar. When she turns around with his drink he says to her - Oh I'm sorry but I dropped my Pilot's Licence down there by accident while getting my wallet. Would you mind getting that for me?
I wouldn’t have believed it if I wasn’t there. Now here is the kicker - can you guess what kind of watch he was wearing? Hahahahahaha!!!!!

And I have a Timex...and I haven't set it for months! It'll cost you upwards of $400-600 just to have a high end watch serviced. I do like the new Tissot Touch! They're a grand in Canada...and about six hun on Ebay!

Yeah, what's the deal with the watch light thing...

I got a good deal on a Citizen Navihawk when I went through my Top-Gun-"I just graduated flight school" phase. But not only do I have the exactly same watch as half of the other pilot wanabees, it's also is useless at night.

All these companies claim to have a watch for pilots...must be for the day VFR folks only. Although I must say that I have used the slide rule part quite a few times, and the watch just won't die. But when it does, back to the Timex I go. If I can afford it...can you get fake Timex's in Asia somewhere?

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.
