Saw an article in the Winnipeg Sun yesterday... Winnipeg Flying Club trying to drum up business...
"With a generation of baby boomer pilots ready to retire - including an estimated 400 Air Canada pilots by 2007 - the job market will soon be flooded with opportunies. Somebody's got to fly all those planes"
Wow, a little over a hundred jobs a year for three years. Sounds like a regular hiring boom to me. Why don't they make it sound even better; 3000 jobs by 2034.
Absolutely disgraceful. There are far more than 400 laid off and furloughed Air Canada pilots waiting for a chance to get back into the majors. But i am sure that little johnny with 250 hours is going to be hired as an airline pilot before those guys. This sunshine up the arsehole of telling students that they are going to be airline pilots when they graduate has to stop. It is causing problems for the industry.

I know 3 web design, 2 interior design and 1 ad design graduates from IAOD. None of them are in their respective fields.
Think all "schools" tell you one thing and you end up in the same hole either way, desk job.
Funny, when i was in university we were all told we were going to be computer programmers and eventually software engineers. And of the dozen people i graduated with, half are computer programmers and the other half (excepting me) are software engineers.
But then again, these people chose to go to school in order to learn something purposive.
Perhaps this modern changing careers four times during the course your life trend is just another sign that the a.d.d. epidemic is well on its way.
A. We have about 1000+/- IT people graduating at each university/college a year. Do you honestly believe they are all working in the IT field??
the job market will soon be flooded with opportunies
B. Semantics, aren't these people told they'll have aviation related jobs, "opportuni(ti)es." They'll be ramp jocks.. Seems like the flight school is telling the truth, n'est pas? Market will be "flooded" with CPLers running the ramps and baggage.
My company sent me out to <<location removed>> for a few months.
There the beer is cold and the titties plentiful. If I had one recommendation to anyone on this board, it would be to get yourself out there. Even you low timers, get yourself out to <<location removed>>, lots of flying in exchange for hard work. I'll tell you what guys, it may be a bit out of the way, but I am ready to retire in <<location removed>> !
Like everyone says "<<location removed>>, Canadian Aviation's best kept secret."
<<location removed>> is about 260nm southwest of <<location removed>>. If you need more information, contact <<name removed>> at <<email address removed>> or call <<phone number removed>>
