I think there's more to come. The announcement today said 6 aircraft and 100 crew. That's a bit more than the sunquest agreement. I wouldnt expect a call for awhile. Things won't happen that fast. If you're on the top half of the list I'd enjoy the time off while the severence is still rolling in. With luck you'll be back on before it runs out. The bottom half should just encourage the top half to work elsewhere. That's of course if you want to go back. I hear there's a lot of jazz and Westjet interviews taking place. And a long line waiting for AirCanada to call. CJ is going to lose a lot of really good people...once again.

Haven't heard much yet either
I don't know anything that hasn't already been said on here. Hoping that the gossip about a transat deal is true. Everyone I talk to says that there is still more information to come as deals get signed. Hang tight everyone... I, for one, don't want to work for the other guys... I just wouldn't fit in. This could be a really good thing (restructuring). If Mr. Rowe seems excited about it then the dollars must be there to make it a good business.

The best 50 managed companies...thats not an award...that's something companies purchase so they get advertising!! But whether someone goes back to work for CJ, thats an individual decision. There are a lot of factors involved. Moving, commuting, stability, and family are a just a few. Some people can just weather the instability better than others. One thing that's for certain though is don't expect any cuddling. Afterwards R will just roll over and go to sleep. But you'll have the full backing of ALPA and they've already earned their keep.
Stay tuned it's only just begun.

Anyone else catch Rowe's interview on ATV tonight?
My favourite part was how in the same interview he claims to care about the employees...but then flat-out admits they knew for some time they were planning to shut it down...and it took some time because they care so much...I nearly shed a tear...
I wish old Steve-o had asked him "Then why exactly was it necessary to sneak into the crew room in the middle of the night and put six different versions of termination notices in people's mailboxes? Was keeping 450 people completely in the dark, so that in some cases people had the pleasure of learning they had lost their job via the tv news, the way you USUALLY show you care?"
Such a farce...designed to try and spin some of the deservedly negative press that IMP got blasted with. So much hypocrisy...Rowe trying to play the stern parent, saying that union employees are given exactly the same conditions as non-union employees...thus implying that ALPA/CUPE were trying to extract more than was given other employee groups. When the truth is until the very end they refused to even set a date to negotiate with ALPA.
When the best thing you can say to defend your actions is "well at least they got paid", as if that were some noble achievement instead of simply your obligation...the employees might as well say, well, at least I showed up to work even though I knew the company was closing....but guess what I don't consider that especially noteworthy, just what you're supposed to do...you would think someone with the Order of Canada would understand these basic tenets of professionalism...
Nice work environment...every employee with one eye on the door and the other looking over their shoulder. Well at least now maybe there will be more FA's than FA managers. Didn't they keep 5 managers and 4 FA's? Comedy.
You watch. They'll try and spin this as a phoenix rising from the ashes, when the reality is it's a weak shadow of it's former self. Work there until you can find a real job and hope in the meantime it "meets the performance targets IMP requires." Then run, do not walk, so that you might avoid waiting for CanJet IV to start up.

I listened to the news conference and overall thought it wasn't too bad. The one thing that sort of sucked was when he said that Canjet over the 4 years wasn't meeting its objective's. When all that we heard was over the same period was that we wern't making any profits but meeting our objectives.
Also he said that they were keeping 6 airplanes but he never said how many they are going to fly. With around 100 call backs between pilots and f/a's that is certainly less than 6 airplanes.
The good news is that they are starting up again as a charter outfit and the more they call back the better. Hopefully they will sign more contracts and get busier. The one good thing is that if there is work out there and the money looks good he will go for it.
For those who get a call back I'm happy for. The more people working the better, and there are lots of good people at Canjet, so good on them. I'm happy for them and their familes.

Lots of media spin. KR is still a coward. Many lives shattered for his change of plans. Work for him if you have to. But leave as soon as you can. Trust me he will screw you eventually if you let him. Serious, the best thing in this industry would be that nobody works for this dick head.
You and your family will suffer if you don't make plans to work for a new
company, I am not bs'ing ,I have suffered myself.

The pilots were never laid off, all but 7 were terminated. Thats what the record of employment states.V1VRV2 wrote:A question for those who still had time left on their training bond! was there a clause that if you got laid off it was null and void? It will be interesting to see if they try to recoup any monies by going after any called back pilots who got jobs elswhere!

Are you guys feeling ok? You want to go back to that shithole operation and continue to serve KR and his cronies? There's great jobs to be had on the open market...if things were dead I'd understand but at this point in time? Are you professional pilots or shoe-shine boys?

I'm curious Beech18s, do you even fly, probably not or maybe your daddy got you a job at AC, either way your not here, so you have no idea what your talking about. Now as for the great jobs to be had on the open market..your right there are, if you want to fly a 737 in japan. Most of us dont, and the comment "serve KR and his cronies?". get your head out of your ass.
I'm pretty sure 95 percent of the guys and gals at CJ version 2.5 have resumes else where.
