Airport in emergency standby
THE WINNIPEG SUN
10/05/2006
Winnipeg International Airport was on emergency standby mode yesterday when an approaching plane reported a problem with its landing gear.
Firefighters and paramedics were on scene as a precaution when Air Canada Jazz flight No. 8334 from Calgary landed safely about 4:15 p.m.
Winnipeg Airports Authority spokeswoman Christine Alongi said the airport opened its emergency operations centre after the pilot reported the problem.
An unknown number of passengers were transported to the terminal by bus. The plane was taken in to be inspected, Alongi said.
Reports indicated the problem with the landing gear was a blown tire.
