And the wait continues

Post by Gateway »

First post here and a longtime lurker.

Did my AC interview during the last week of July and so far no nasty PFO letter, touch wood.

I personally felt my interview went very well, cog was interesting though not as scary as some made it out to be and the Psyc test were for the most part strange and "no I've never wanted to be a florist".

So I'm up to day number # 82 on the no call yet list. How long on average do people wait before any news good or bad is passed to the candidate.

Took 4 months for me to hear that I got the job. Interviewed in March and got called in July. Apparently my medical clearance got lost somewhere between the doctors office and the hiring office, but its all good now. :D If only I wasn't frozen at Jazz.... LOL

This lost medical thing must happen quite often. Same thing happened to me. When I called to inquire they told me they did not have my medical yet and apparently they can't call the clinic as that info is conidential. If you think this may have happened to you just call the clinic and tell them to re-fax your medical clearance to HR. You should get the call within a week after that with a course date. Good luck.

Interviewed August 3rd and I start on the 16th. Did my medical 10 days ago... Ive heard that with any given pool of candidates those with higher "scores" if you will are called sooner. Dont know how I slipped by though....

Best of luck - Im sure the call will come sooner rather than later...

Well heres hoping some of us here something soon. Some have PM 'd me and asked my time and where I work so heres my explanation. On the day I did the interview they mentioned I was a rare exception to be here for the interview, an CRJ captain from Montreal who could have applied earlier the year before probably total time around 10000 hrs. Maybe too much time , you just never know.

I gave them the reason that was the truth I happened to be on vacation when the memo came out from Dir Flt Ops and the window if I do remember was only like six days. I actually had the memo in my package that I gave them. I later met another CRJ Captian from YYZ on the day of my Cog who just never applied in 2005 due to an illness in his family same situation as me I guess somewhere around 10000 hrs with a lot of jet time 727/fokker/CRJ. All he said was time for a change.

I fully expect to here something soon whether good or bad who knows.

Good luck to all

Heard of This?

Post by Slugger »

Talked with a buddy of mine yesterday and he told me that he did not get a pfo letter, but a call from hr that he was being kept in the pool and to call them back in the spring as he would have to do it all again. I was speechless as did not know what to say as I have never heard of this before. Happen to anybody else?

Interviewed Aug 17, and received a letter on Oct 12 saying they were unable to hire me at this time, but try again in six months. Oh well, those are the breaks of aviation.
I guess that means I've got six months to either become functionaly bilingual or get a degree. I'm thinking one of those universities that will let you challenge courses with life experience. If you have any suggestions, I'd love them but the university has to be from a recognized country :D

Interview and got the call.

Post by kingbaida »

Got my interview in august and cog test in september. I got the call 3 weeks later, and scheduled for a medical. I did not have any internal references, and I did not think I did well on the cog test.
Do not be discouraged, I am sure everything will follow.
Good luck to all. I'm still nervous about the medical.

For those waiting to hear the news, my story is that I got a PFO letter after 7 months. Nothing about applying again however I did apply again after 6 months and got a letter that the Hiring board stands by its previous decision.

I think I must have done something terribly wrong to be treated like this and have no idea how to rectify it. Any suggestions welcome...........

My qualifications, 6000 TT, 1500 P1 on Airbus, MBA degree

Are there any other jobs which would allow me to live in Canada, willing to commute.

Good Luck to all, I wish I could make it !

 Hi everyone, Even if I am not involve in the process, I can not help to think that 7 months for an answer is.....on the rude and disrespect side of things...Specialy coming from a so called major airline....Things don't change in Canada do they ? There's a lot of options for those interested outside the country, good luck to all....

Gateway,

Have you heard anything? I think Jennifer is calling right now for the Nov 27th, then Dec11 and will then fill a course in early Jan.

Also the person you met on your interview that was another CRJ Capt was he by chance a commuter from Winterpeg? A buddy of mine was also waiting for an interview that fits the description of the gentlemen that you met that day. CRJ Capt based in YYZ who lost his father last year and I think he never felt like coming over at the time.

I will call him to find out.

Thrust set......no call for me as of yet but the person I did see during my interview that you think you know, I believe he is a commuter and possibly from Winnipeg if my memory is correct. He was in the crew room a couple days ago in YUL doing some DCA trips and mentioned that he got the call from Jen and just has to do a medical. Probably would be for a Dec or Jan course................why no call for me waaaaaaaaaa! (JOKING)

Gateway and thrust set....

If Jennifer is making phone-calls for the NOV, DEC and JAN course starts, from which pool of people interviewed is she calling. ie: Is she calling people interviewed early in the year, or just recently?

Thanks for the help and best of luck!

grasshopper66,

Good-day!

I've been waiting in the pool for about 4 weeks. But as you said it seems that the hiring "treands" are pretty unpredictable. Any inside scoops!?

Cheers

Hey PD2 , just to set the record straight I am not involve in the process Like I mentionned in my previous post...

Would I have been younger I would have probably gave it a try.....But, Having a few acquaintance who tried recently....They all got rejected....All fine aviator, military command background ( not all of them ) , university degree, french knowledge , Jet and EFIS time and clean records. So what are the real requirements ?? Your guess is as good as mine . If you stopped going to church it might be time to give it a second try !!!!

But as far as the top of the cream like some pretend to be .....Well...maybe next time...Fly safe my friend :D

PD2

It is my understanding that Jennifer is calling pilots for the last week of Nov and a course around Dec 11th. If you are unable to leave your job ( i.e..overseas and have a commitment for a few months ) then your name will be kept on a very short list. You will be called by order the hiring department selects your file based upon the score after completion of the interview, Cog, and Psyc tests. This along with your overall experience and references will give the airline an idea of what they can expect from each candidate.

thrust set,

I appreciate the information. Do you know if Jennifer has already started the phone-calls, or will she be starting this week?

Best of luck to everyone trying to get on with AC.
