YHZ Port??
Sounds like some CanJet guys are heading to YYC! Does anyone know if WestJet is planning a YHZ port in the near future? Also how are the ports working out? Is it something WestJet will continue with?

The PORT process is still in the early stages. YYZ & YVR for now, with YEG,YWG to come. Before YHZ there are others to start up.
One issue is that there has to be a reasonable amount of Captains and First Officers living there to make it work. If some of the ex-Air Atlantic Captains would move back it would work but most are well established in Calgary. Also, some won't move unless there's a PORT and there won't be a PORT unless some move

My 2 cents worth
I'm heading off to Westjet. I'm commuting, and not doing anything based on the idea of a HZ port. I plan on commuting to and from YYC, which at times will be difficult. I simply cannot afford to live in YYC. Bascialy what I'm saying is don't go to WestJet planning for a HZ port. That being said..another WJ Captain e-mailed me the other night telling me he just bought a house here and is moving back east. I'm not planning on the port thing, and I don't think you should take a job with WJ planning for it, but if the port thing does happen...bonus!!

I've flown with a few Ex9a'ers who are just drooling for a reason to move back to YHZ. As our director in charge of scheduling said 'the plan is to have everywhere we overnight as a port'. They continue to work on the bugs, but I think they want to improve YYZ first. Then tackel the others. There is lots of brainstorming going on so its bound to produce something.
One thing is that you can't write off a move to a port, I think WestJet is talking to CCRA about that now.
As for cost of YHZ to YYC. I did that move. It was cheaper to move to YYC with the lower taxes and I found the housing to be the same. It's all change now since my house that was 350 is now in the 600's. I'm planning on moving somewhere cheaper to cash in, like Vancouver

Canda Customs and Revenue Agency - ie the tax people that we report (or not) to each year by April 30 - the ones that take lots of our hard-earned $ that should really influence how we vote (and influence more of us to actually vote)

"oh, I have slipped.." into what, we're not sure
