Ifr written eligibility
Hi folks, a bit too lazy to look this up...
How long is an IFR written good for before the flight test. 1 year?
Thanks...

Funny thing is that it takes less time to look up the answer than it does to post the question on AvCanada:
ALL exams are good for 2 years.Time Limits
400.03(1) Subject to subsection (3), tests, skill letters and examinations, including all sections of a sectionalized examination, that are required for the issuance of a permit or licence or for the endorsement of a permit or licence with a rating shall be completed during the 24-month period immediately preceding the date of the application for the permit, licence or rating.
If your that lazy, or worse, that stupid to find that out, then DO NOT go write your IFR. Take that little piece of paper that says you have enough time to fly that buck 72 and let your dog eat it. Or continue to be a weekend warrior. But stay out of the soup you shouldn't be in it anyway.

hmm. very nice... shows what you know. haven't flown a 172 in years but do make a living for 5 years now flying Cessnas and Beavers on the West Coast for Charter and Scheduled service.
Lazy perhaps not the right word, thought it was quicker to ask between scheds than to look it up on a slow computer.
So quick to judge... weekend warrior? I fly in the soup over the Georgia Strait with 2 miles and 400 feet with passengers all winter long for a living. Well done... tomadick

Whats so special about the Georgia Strait? You guys are never more than 20 miles from shore or a few minutes from any boat. You're always on radar, rescue helicopters and even hovercraft are ready to rush out to save your ass if you happen to put down in the big bad water. Give it a rest. Go to the north coast or the arctic or labrador where rescue is hours or even days away. I'd wait till you've got a little more than 5 years experience in the business before you start preaching. And if you think for a second that 2 miles and 400' is going to impress anyone thats worked on the coast you're mistaken my friend. I can't stand pilots that brag about what kind of experience they have. Especially when they don't have anything to brag about.

Who's bragging? Just saying that I'm not one of these and ease up on the judgements:
*Take that little piece of paper that says you have enough time to fly that buck 72 and let your dog eat it. Or continue to be a weekend warrior. But stay out of the soup you shouldn't be in it anyway.
It was a simple question not worthy of that kind of judgement or response... respect to all pilots whatever thay may be doing and aspiring to do.

In case you haven't noticed yet ... people say things on the internet they would never dream of saying to you in person.
This is because of the lack of feedback during internet communication. Systems without feedback do not work well. This is the difference between open loop and closed loop systems.

There is bad stuff and good stuff on the internet. Use the good stuff, filter out the bad stuff (shrug).
Good luck on your instrument rating flight test!
