Another thing to consider: I've been told by several Indian students that India does not recognize training in the Seminole for the multi-engine rating. You might want to confirm this with the Indian aviation authority, and make sure the school you choose has an approved aircraft. I understand Guelph got a Seneca for this reason.
You are correct. That is also why Canadian Flight Academy in Oshawa picked up a Seneca. As well, India doesn't recognize Cessna 150s. 152s are recognized.Aviatard wrote:Another thing to consider: I've been told by several Indian students that India does not recognize training in the Seminole for the multi-engine rating. I would recommend Oshawa or Moncton, Oshawa is a mid size school so not to small and not to big and they have been getting lots of foreign students these days so you'll have lots in common with your fellow pilots, but then again there's Moncton. Moncton has been in business forever and simply saying they just know how to get the job done, plus they probably have the most experienced staff in the country. If any questions feel free to ping me.

How about Cost of Living
Hmm. I seem to get a fair idea on what to choose. And how about the Total Training time for CPL with Night Rating, Multi Engine & instrument Rating. also can anyone guide me on the accommodation /cost of living
. I'd be glad to have these info.
I didnt Know about those details (india not accepting Cessna 150 and Seminole Aircraft) Thats an Eyeopener. thanks for the Heads up guys.
And Can anyone guide me on whether i can get an Instructor Rating while working part time for the Flying Club? and also if there are any other part time jobs available to take care of my expenses.
Thanks Much

My Mistake :(
Probably was requesting too many things from the forum than doing something myself. Hmmm, what to do, multi tasking is a bit hard when you are into Software
Anyway thanks B-rad for the comment.

B-rad is just being a jerk.
The cost of living varies enormously with location. In some places you might find rent as low as $300/month, but in the big cities it's not uncommon to see four times that or more. Most students end up sharing a place with other students, splitting the costs. The schools you contact may be able to help you there. There are also lots of internet sites that people use to advertise rental properties. I'd contact the flight schools first, the'll probaby be better able to direct you, maybe put you in contact with some of thier students.
Food and transportation also depend on where you live, but they vary less. You will need to consider how close you live to the airport, whether there is public transportation (busses etc.) or you need a car. If you're using public tranist, I'd budget around $200/month for food and travel.
Regardless of where you train, you'll probably need to buy some new winter clothes. Again, depending what you buy, that could range from about $200-600.
Also keep in mind you might end up in unexpected places and need to spend alot of money because of flight training. I've been stuck away from home because of weather for 3-4 days at a time. Hotel and restaurant bills can add up quickly. Have a contingency fund availible.
Good luck.

Forgive me if this is a Dumb question. But the currency that you've mentioned is Canadian Dollars right and not US dollars.
So i should stay out of Costly cities is it. I'll note that point to my list. And thanks very much to this forum for the heads up on the Air crafts (Cessna 150 and Seminole
) . Seriously there was no mention of them in the DGCA(Director General of Civil Aviation. India) website.I have almost all the docs in their site that i went through a number of times but didnt find any .
One of the guys whom i spoke to in Canada in Canadian Flyers International , Toronto said that he is happy with the training and costs are ok. I'd be glad to get experts' opinion from this forum on that Flying School. The total cost for CPL for him is around 15 lakh Rupees (around 38200 C.D).
Thanks

I'd recommend my Flight school but I have enough brown students already.
Basically talking to the Indians that have gone through our and other programs the DGC in India isn't going to care much about where you got your license in Canada.
Just find ANY flight school that has 152 and Seneca, and can get you done in the least amount of time possible. 9-11 months is what I've seen as the average ->IF YOU WORK HARD<-. And make sure they have a reasonable number of other indian students already going there, because you will want those other indian students to show you how to take care of your DGC papers and all that crap that needs a million stamps and signatures.
Also if you are in India right now get your F*ing medical and Commercial written done if you can. The students that had those done before they came here are basically ready for A320/737NG sim training with Air India and Kingfisher when they get back. It's so easy for them it is stupid.
Oh and one more thing, if you know any hot Indian chicks that like white meat... send me a PM.
I love the curry and buttered chicken! Must be good cook.
Actually for those of us with ATPLs conversions are easy at that level and they are paying ALOT! Students are telling me (RUMORS!) 5-15K USD per month to fly turbine anything overthere. And in India that's like getting paid 4x that amount here.
You will live like a king.
