Anyone have info on transat's latest ad?

How are they to work for in toronto?
Conditions re;
Schedule
Annual/long term job stability
moral
non french speaking
etc

ummmm.....think they frown on that sorta thing. Remember, the company was founded in Quebec, by french Canadians.

If you have an "anglo only" attitude, I suggest you apply somewhere else.

Go up north and see how you're treated cuz the colour of your skin.

Somebody born with a native grandmother will never have to pay taxes while the rest of up bust our balls just to get by.

Alot of chicks with low time getting in with the big companies

There's alot of discrimination around. Deal with it.

Well as for conditions, you start at 64 grand a year pus expenses and let me tell you, thats a lot in the summer. Slary goes up about 7-8 Grand a year until top of scale after 8 years F/o about 110 grands. Then the max you can achieve as a captain, top of scale, 175 grand plus bonus etc... I think its quite enough to have a good life in this country. I am french canadian from Montreal, but I am based in YYZ and I love it! So if you are french and you dont mind YYZ, you will like it. I you miss Montreal, Too bad, you will have a hard time commuting on your time off! And if you are english only speaking! Do like I did and teache learn a second or a third language! That will improve relashionship with others, and open your mind to other cultures! Of course, if you only speak one language, wich is very rare in Canada nowadays, you can go fly a little jungle jet at AC! I Said, Best luck... Bonne chance,et salut!

"if you only speak one language, which is very rare in Canada these days!" I think if you do some digging you'll find that the majority of Canadians only speak one language. The latest figure I saw was around 22 million out of the estimated 33 million in Canada only speak one language.

that's kind hard to belive.

It doesn't have to be french, but living in some of our major cities, english was one of the least spoken languages.

Transat is the only(?) charter company that's stuck it out ever since I was a kid.

I remember working the tower in yyz a few years back, and always asked myself how this company could many any money. At any given time, they would have 3 planes sitting in the infield parking for days if not weeks at a time.

I am an english only pilot with Air Transat for 9 years now. The group of pilots I work with are mostly bilingual with French being their first language.They are a great group of people to work with and I have been treated excellent by them over the years even though I speak english only.
The Airline is one if the better places to work in Canada as far as airlines go, in my opinion.The Fying is excellent and varied,the wages are very good as well as our benefits.The contract is solid and has improved with each renewal. The airline is an integral part of one of the World's largest Tour Operators, and it is also publicly traded. It is true,that bilingual pilots are preferred but I don't think that it is impossible to get a job here if you do not speak French. I do think it would improve your chances and the number of pilots they need has something to do with it as well. I worked at another airline for 10 years prior to Air Transat and have friends at Air Canada,Westjet,Skyservice,Canjet, Harmony. I feel very comfortable recommending Air Transat as one of the better places to have an airline career in Canada
