Just exactly where is this strip? And why is it there? If that's the best site they could find to build a strip, the surrounding terrain must be truly brutal!

It's used by Mission Aviation Fellowship in Indonesia. The pic you posted was used in their yearly calendar a few years ago.

Here is another pic:

Heheh, nice pic. Strange though. The pic posted here, vs. the pic on the MAF website at first glance appear to be from different angles of the same strip. In actual fact, they are reversed (different pics tho).

I,d love to see footage of a takeoff and landing on that strip. Looks like take off starts with a bounce of the berm near the top judging by the wheel marks in the dirt followed by a ski jump launch on the lower flat point. Landing I,m sure is an entirely different matter being much more critical requiring phenominal precision.

Near Tofino there is a place called Bulsen Lake (more like a big pond)
Nose dive in dodge around two tall pine trees splash in to glassy water or alternate Star Wars approach Zig Zag up a canyon trying not to take out tree branches or knock off the pine cones followed by glassy water splash down. extrernal load as well.

Same thing only different................................... Yeah Baby

When u can snatch the pebble from my hand...............then u r a man grasshopper
