New IFR Ban to take effect late 2008....
Had to happen. As of late 2008, IFR below 12,500 feet, in weather better than a 6000 foot ceiling, and 6 miles visibility will be banned. While the details are sketchy, it seems that aircraft filing IFR with good VMC conditions are a "strain on the system", an unknown spokeswoman with Transport Canada reported later today. If the conditions should become lower, the aircraft will be required to orbit outside the control zones until they declare an emergency due to low fuel. The same spokeswoman said.."That's not our problem. We have people with university degrees making these rules for everyone's safety."
Medevac aircraft, and Quebec will be exempt from the new regulations. Because they wont be able to understand them anyway. They will be issued in English only, and medevac pilots just are not that bright. These aircraft(I assume the medevac and Quebec aircraft) must be flown by college graduates. These pilots must have attended at least four courses on PDM, CRM, and have a clean record with Transport Canada....

They must also have bought their PPC and offer to pay for any training they might need....

Yebbut!!!
In Dec 2010, listen to this................
Reuters International.
Canada today announced the implementation of its pioneering process
"Ban the Boobs".
Transport Canada Aviation has announced a plan which has been in process for seventy years. "The Boobs" are human upstarts who seem to think they know how to fly airplanes. Statistics have shown this to be a misconception, and a deadly one at that. These foolish entitities have habitually proven themselves unworthy of upholding the Transport Canada tenet of safety by occasionally killing themselves and their passengers.
Despite their protests of "experience", "training", "common sense" and other niggardly expressions, the wisdom of desk-bound intelligence has finally won through.
The removal of "The Boobs" has been a long and involved process.
First, in a masterly display of deception, Transport Canada Aviation approved navigational and aircraft reliability processes such that Navigators and Engineers were excluded from flight decks.
The introduction (and masterly approval ) of data systems, remote control, autopilots, GPS, engine-reliability ETOPS, has cut the inhabitants of flight decks by 50% since the early 1950s.
Now, in a final assault on the incapable "Boobs", a data-link process to Transport Canada will ensure ultimate safety by prohibiting flight.
Computers will make all decisions and passengers may be reassured of their safety where a 0.00000001 chance of an accident will refuse flight permission for any departure.
