Question
What should be included in the resume???
I know it depends on the type of job and where your at.
Things like Total time and Time on type if the have that type of a/c but what else should I have?
I have one put together that got me mixed sucess in the past but I could be doing better I think. And no I dont have the High School I graduated from on there.

What you need to know is, how to get what you need to know.
This is not a retreat. Its an advance to the rear.

The ideal resume should be printed on pretty blue paper, with clouds. It should include the applicant's picture, in a Speedo, or, at least, bra and panties. Don't forget to mention all the clubs you belonged to as a pre-schooler. Kindergym etc., are very important, and CP's just love reading about them. Were you a 4H member? High school band member? Are you involved in your church? Lets hear about all your hobbies? Are you an active member of the Gay/Lesbian Pilots Club in your area? A 99, perhaps. Hey, all this stuff is vital! The main thing is to LEAVE NOTHING OUT!! No matter how unimportant you may think it is, put it in! Your resume should be at least 15-20 pages in length. Dont forget your mother's maiden name and your date of birth and social insurance number! The best references will be from you public school gym teacher. The one you spent all those steamy sessions with after school! Lets hear about all the books you've read recently. LEAVE NO STONE UNTURNED!!! You DO want to "stand out" don't you?
I guess
I should mention that I played football almost lunch break from grade four through 6... shows ability to stay on task I guess

You've got the hang of this whole pilot resume concept.niwre wrote:I should mention that I played football almost lunch break from grade four through 6... shows ability to stay on task I guess
JUGGS-A waypoint in Idaho too!
Having reviewed several thousand over the years, here are my thoughts.
Use 1 plain font. (Arial is good)
Use a good quality white bond paper.
Be concise.
Be truthful.
Make your data make sense. Your hours should sum up correctly.
Nobody cares that you golf, paint or weave baskets. Only add personal info that helps describe you as a person and points to your positive attributes. ie: 8 years in Air Cadets shows sinificant long term interest and discipline.
Tailor your resume to the job you are applying for. As a corporate operator, I round file resumes that list "over 12,500, glass cockpit, fms experience as those are clearly AC's interests.
Hope that helps.

Don’t try to lie on one of those either.... heard a few bad cases were some people did.... oh boy not a pretty scene
Now not only do you have a minor offence, now you have a federal offence, intentionally lying on a federal document and good luck getting one now in the future (can u say Red Flag or Black List)

Best solid advice around...=)xsbank wrote: For low-timers, I think calling ahead and arriving in person is a better way to get a job."
Anybody can write a resume if they do the work. Anyone. I'm saving you some work.
A 200 hour pilot is a hard sell, but a fancy resume does not do the work. You still need to make contact and impress the employer that you are the best candidate.
My resumes will not get binned without being read.
I fully endorse xbanks service...

oh yeah - if you are sending of CVs to companies of another language - no matter how good your spoken English ( or in my case, spoken French) get it translated professionaly!! you will most likely have to help the person with the official aviation terms, but aside from that, it is sooo worth it.
I picked up a couple of homemade translation resumes and nearly pissed my pants laughing. They didn't English, but they Frenched very well. I wish i had kept them.
And, yes, like the other guys said, keep it to one page. and no cheesy photos in the corner.

And how would that be?? TC is not going to rat you out to your employer.. You would not believe the number of people who have a ramp pass that also have a criminal record. Years ago a friend of mine who worked at the pass office in YVR said that there were people who had to add a page to the application for their offences..phillyfan wrote:If your going to need a red pass for the job you are looking for Mcsly. It's gonna come out. If you have not been pardoned. I would save yourself the grief.
My plan for world domination through resumes is not a huge success so far, but I have done ten for free (one was underwhelmed, so far, and the rest are appreciative, some even posted recommendations).
Anyway, I will look at some more if you still want your resumes critiqued. PM me, as before.

Ditto. I had what I thought was a good resume but Xsbank 'trimed the fat' on both res and CV and yet kept it clear and concise.
A comment here: I've been lurking these forums for sometime and only recently posted. I get tired of seeing all the bitchin' and whining and negative comments.
Xsbank, and I've read more than one of his posts, is one guy here that does make a sincere, and knowledgable, effort to assist - kodos to him and others like him.

That is word for word of my thoughts. Sad, but so very true. Thanks again Xsbank for all the generosity, words of encouragement and advice!Bushav8er wrote:Ditto. I had what I thought was a good resume but Xsbank 'trimed the fat' on both res and CV and yet kept it clear and concise.
