Charge for Processing of Medical Certificate

Post by CanFlyBoy »

Hey does anybody know where this $55 go's when you pay it? Its not enough that I pay $120 for a medical to be done but I have to pay this too. This is nothing new for me paying this but I just want to know if anybody out there knows where it go's? I thought the medical examiner had to pay a certain amount to Transport....but I guess I could be wrong.

Call it whatever you want, it is a licence renovation fee. Part of it pays for the AIP subscription, but I am sure that some of it goes into general revenue's. The FAA doesn't do this, but many other countries directorates have their hand open on a regular period. Kinda like a fishing licence. Want to use it, got to pay money to renew every year.

The basic idea is that the government takes as much money away from the people, as they think they can get away with taking. It's quite parasitical.

The government then takes this money, which it didn't earn, and spend it on the gun registry, cancelling helicopter contracts, bogus ad campaigns in Quebec, etc.

Oddly enough the population of Canada is so stupid, they enjoy having their money taken away from them by the government, and they keep voting the corrupt thieves back into office, time and time again.

Transport Canada of course reports to these corrupt thieves, and acts accordingly.

The $55 is a rip-off. Just a tax by another name but here is some advice. Don't pay it! TC sends the bill to CCRA (aka the tax man) who then takes it from your tax return. Now the worste case is that you pay the $55 later, no interest. On the up side, sometimes the bill gets lost in the bureaucracy. Happened twice for me so far but no worries, the $110 is far better in my pocket than the government's. A strong protest from all of us especially the 40+ crowd is in order here. TC demands the paperwork so let them file it at their own expence. Screw them!

charge for processing medical certificates

Mmmm.
I was told when I phoned that some of the money goes to the AIP.
So why does the over 40 guys subscribe TWICE a year to the AIP? Yeah, it is time we got together and screamed. $55 once or especially twice a year is too much. The Ottawa TC dweeb I talked to doesn't have to pay ANY of his fees, so he didn't care.
Anyway, folks, it is another tax-deductible item, so you may get a cent back on your taxes.
